In response to some recent comments and reviews, with regards to our decision not to accept certain dog breeds into our Doggy Day Care.
We opened Doggy Day Care in September 2014 and had to adhere to rules and regulations to obtain a Boarding/Day Care Licence and Public Liability Insurance. We were advised not to accept certain dog breeds and organise an induction process for all other dogs breeds.
As dog owners owners ourselves, we believed that every dog should be given the opportunity of an induction. But we soon realised, that any dog displaying unsuitable behaviour, would not be accepted and a higher percentage of certain breeds, did not react well to an indoor pack environment. So a decision was made to exclude these breeds from Day Care in accordance with our licence.
As part of our licence we had to include a Duty Of Care statement to provide a social, safe,
supervised and playful environment for all the dogs under our care.
We realise that this is a very sensitive topic, as dog owners ourselves we can appreciate your
frustration.
Our priority is to provide the best atmosphere for the welfare of the dogs in our care and any bad behaviour will disrupt that, not to mention risk of injury to both dogs and staff.
We can only apologise that our decision is upsetting for you and do sympathise, but we have to as a business, assess risk, no matter how small within the Day Care. Our decision is based on events we have experienced at Day Care over the last ten years. And the legal guidelines we have to follow.
