The 11th November is a day dedicated to honoring military personnel who lost their lives in service to their country. The date commemorates the armistice signed at the end of World War I on November 11, 1918.

Wearing a poppy is a show of support for the service and sacrifice of our Armed Forces, veterans and their families. It represents all those who lost their lives on active service, from the beginning of the First World War right up to present day ๐ŸŽ–

Wednesday 6th November marks National Stress Awareness Day, which seeks to raise awareness of the negative effects that stress can have on our health. While stress can sometimes serve as a helpful motivator, too much of it can negatively impact our mood, body, and mind. ๐Ÿ’†

This is where our pets play an important role: they can greatly help reduce stress and boost mental well-being. Interacting with pets has a soothing effect on the body, helping to lower blood pressure, ease anxiety, and increase feelings of social support.
Petting or cuddling animals can release oxytocin, a hormone that promotes
relaxation and bonding, while also lowering cortisol levels, which are linked to
stress. ๐Ÿถ๐Ÿฑ๐Ÿฐ

Feeling stressed? Take a few extra moments today to cuddle your pet and ease those feelings of tension. ๐Ÿ’–

November 5th is perhaps the most stressful night of the year for pet owners and sadly for much of our wildlife too. Here are some top tips to help tonight go as smoothly as possible ๐ŸŽ†

๐ŸŽ‡Always try to make the bonfire on the day of lighting it. If youโ€™ve already built yours, move it to a debris-free area to allow wildlife that has moved in a chance to get out.
๐ŸŽ‡Never build your bonfire on a pile of leaves as a hedgehog may be hiding underneath.
๐ŸŽ‡Keep fireworks away from trees and hedgerows
๐ŸŽ‡Clear up once the display has finished. Donโ€™t leave dead fireworks or litter
๐ŸŽ‡Hedgehogs are not the only garden lovers who need rehousing on Guy Fawkes night. Look out for toads, frogs, and newts who will also require a little redirection.
๐ŸŽ‡Check the entire bonfire for hedgehogs before lighting it.
๐ŸŽ‡When checking, lift parts of the bonfire section by section using a pole or broom. ๐ŸŽ‡Do not use a fork, spade or rake as this may injure a hedgehog.
๐ŸŽ‡Use a torch to look inside the bonfire and listen for hissing.
๐ŸŽ‡Always light your bonfire from one corner, rather than in the centre, in order to give hedgehogs a chance to escape if they need to.
๐ŸŽ‡If you have outdoor pets bring them inside, move hutches, (like guinea pigs or rabbits) to a garage or shed. Soundproof cages with a breathable blanket and add extra bedding to hide in.
๐ŸŽ‡If you have indoor pets, keep them in the house as much as possible. Shut any windows and doors so they canโ€™t run off if they do get frightened. Make sure blinds and curtains are closed. Build them a den or add an extra blanket on their bed.Turn up the TV/ Radop so theyโ€™re distracted by familiar sounds. If your pets are unsettled donโ€™t get cross with them, give them some space & treat them as you would normally.

November is national pet diabetes awareness month โ™ฅ๏ธ

Diabetes keeps pets from producing or utilizing insulin appropriately, which prevents the conversion of food to energy; as a result, extra sugar remains in the blood resulting in lethargy and other health-related complications.

Though this disease has no cure, it can be managed with treatment and monitoring so pets can continue to thrive.
