❤️ Meet Bella ❤️

Bella came into us after her owner noticed some blood in her urine. We used our ultrasound scanner to scan the bladder which had a very thickened wall and lots of shadows which told us there were bladder stones present. Her urine was analysed using our in-house laboratory machines.

Bella came in for a general anaesthetic with vet Sophie and a procedure called a cystotomy where we enter the bladder and remove the stones. We took this x-ray before the surgery and were amazed at how many were in there! Bella recovered well from her surgery and has gone back to her normal bouncy self… you wouldn’t think she was 13!!

Bella has since started a special food to help prevent the stones from re-forming. These bladder stones form when the pH of the urine is too alkaline and can be remedied by a change in diet. There are lots of other causes for blood in the urine so it’s always worth checking if you see it!

MEET THE TEAM: Hana Ravenscroft CCA

Hana is our Client Care Assistant here at Tattenhall Veterinary Practice. She is dedicated to making sure both our clients and their pets feel welcomed and well cared for from the moment they step through the door.

Outside of work, Hana enjoys spending time with her sister and nephews in Scotland, often finding time to create special memories with her family. She’s a self-proclaimed foodie who loves cooking and trying new places to eat – often going on foodie adventures. Whether it’s a cosy dinner at home or exploring new restaurants, Hana’s always up for a good meal.

Hana also loves booking mini-breaks and holidays with her friends, always eager to see new parts of the world. She enjoys painting, drawing, and going on long hikes around the country.

Originally from Manchester, Hana now lives in Wales with her cat Finnegan and Toast the friendly hamster.

We just had to share these two ❤️ Giorgio and Pablo are Sphynx cats, which means they don’t have any hair coat. Because of this they often have to wear jumpers and shirts to keep them warm and have regular baths to control the oils in their skin. They came in to see Amy this week for their kitten checks and to book them in for neutering next month.

MEET THE TEAM MONDAY: Jessica McNichol RVN

Jess joined us as a Registered Veterinary Nurse in December but gained a degree in Psychology and Criminology before deciding to pursue a career caring for animals. She has now worked in first opinion practice for over 10 years.

Jess’ veterinary career began as a Veterinary Receptionist, she then qualified as a Registered Veterinary Nurse in 2018. Jess’ favourite part about working in first opinion practice is getting to know all of her patients and their owners. Jess has a particular interest in anaesthesia and she is also passionate about dental care.

Jess lives with her husband Stephen and their Italian Greyhound Albert. They love to spend their weekends outdoors exploring new places. A seaside walk is their ideal day out, even during the winter months! Jess also enjoys reading and gardening in her spare time.

Did you know our standard consultation time is now 30 minutes? Having started this during our soft launch to give us more time to find our feet we realised we can’t go back! We just love talking to our clients, getting to know our patients and feel we’re able to offer a better standard of care by discussing the whole animal rather than just one concern. Our consultation charge won’t be changing either - £52.50 for 30 minutes and £45.50 for a revisit.
