Another great post from Canicross in Devon

We've all been there 🤯

You ask your dog to do something - or just something as seemingly simple as going for a walk in the woods - and your training goes out the window, they ignore you, they flip you the bird and decide to close their ears.🤦‍♀️

It's frustrating 🥴
It's embarrassing 😳
It dents your pride 😤

But is that what's really happening?

What if your dog is doing the best they can in the situation? 🤔

If we change our mindset and see all behaviour as information, it becomes easier to see the times your dog is showing you they CAN'T not won't.

We can then make adjustments, set them up for success and show them we understand.

The more we listen, the more they'll speak 💛

Choosing force silences your dog. Can you honestly say 'my dog doesn't find that aversive' if you choose not to listen?

A couple of last minute spaces in 2025's first puppy schools at Mischief Managed.

A 6 week course we work work on lots of things to help your puppy become a well rounded individual as well as lead walking and recall.

Yesterday the very handsome Finn and his mum came for their canicross taster ready for the Couch to 5k course beginning on Saturday!

They were both fitted with canicross kit and then we went through some of the training stuff to help make canicrossing together easier.

Meg and I had a lovely weekend away staying with my sister in Aberystwyth over the weekend.
Meg loved the walking especially the beaches and hills - back where she belongs!
She also experienced her first train journey and took it like a champ!
I kept her on a flexi lead for most of our walks, so she still had freedom but couldn't get herself lost. Now she's nearly 14 she gets confused very easily as her hearing isn't so good so to keep her safe I use a flexi or longline in places she doesn't know 😊

So proud of these guys! My first ever group of Couch to 5k canicrossers in January 2023 and we still enjoy regular runs together now! So lovely to see how well the dogs know each other too 🥰

Happy new year to all my wonderful clients, what a year 2024 has been for Mischief Managed!

This year I've set up a fortnightly Barkrun in Taunton and set up a Canicross running club too!
As well as my Puppy classes and Hoopers classes growing in popularity!

I have loved getting to know new clients and building friendships with long standing clients - it's been a pleasure.

I can't wait for another year of training fun with you all!
