🌟 Understanding the “Seeking System” 🌟

At EquiScholars, we explore the fascinating “Seeking System,” a key concept in both human and equine behaviour. This system drives curiosity, exploration, and the need to interact with the world—vital for horses’ mental and emotional well-being.

Through our content, we teach young people how to meet their horses’ needs by engaging this system, offering practical ways to enrich their environment and nurture their natural instincts. We also dive into the parallels between domesticated horses and the feelings we experienced during lockdown—highlighting the importance of movement, stimulation, and connection for both species.

We know you’ve all been waiting patiently for the launch of our EquiScholars Plus Programs—and we’re so excited to say the wait is nearly over! 🐴💫
This Monday, we’ll officially open registration for our training programs, and we can’t wait to share them with you. These programs have been carefully crafted from years of experience and a deep passion for equine-assisted learning. Whether you’re interested in our EquiSchools Program or the Early Intervention Program, there’s something here to inspire, educate, and empower you.
Here’s a sneak peek of what’s coming:

✅ EquiSchools: Perfect for supporting young learners in groups of up to six, this program aligns with Ofsted’s Personal Development criteria, making it an invaluable resource for schools and educational settings.
✅ Early Intervention: A deeply personal 1:1 program designed to build resilience and growth in children, young people, and adults—all while honouring the incredible role of horses.

Both programs start with our EquiScholars Plus foundation training, giving you a solid base in key theories like attachment, polyvagal, and equine behaviour.
We couldn’t have done this without YOU—our amazing community. Your enthusiasm and belief in our work have been the driving force behind everything we do.

There will always be someone in this life who just doesn’t like you, no matter how hard you try to please them.
There will always be something that you say, or do, which causes offence or division.
Whether you meant to or not.
There will always be someone who finds fault in you, your life or your words.
You may never find out why, please don’t waste your precious time trying to.

You can’t be everyone’s cup of tea.

Then there will be those who like you on impact.
A little fizz of energy that passes between you.
Silently, unseen, bonding.
Those people will not only like you but they will like you fiercely.
They are your people.
Whatever spare time you have, spend it on them.

You can’t be everyone’s cup of tea, but you can be someone’s first sip of a cold drink on a sunny day…

Or a warming hot chocolate when you come in from the rain
or the pop of a long awaited champagne cork
or a stiff shot of tequila when things go awry

Find your people,

🤎 Desensitisation with BrightBay 🤎

🐎 When bringing Ruby into work, her main role was to be used within riding lessons.
These clients had varied abilities including clients that were in wheelchairs. 🐎

⭐️The training here was to get Ruby used to the mounting block area and get used to the equipment in this space. ⭐️

❕Now, this area can be quite a difficult space for horses, especially those of her size! It can be overwhelming and feel a little claustrophobic. ❕

💡 It’s important to evaluate your horse in these sessions so that positive associations are created and that both horse and human come away from the session with sense of achievement 💡

🐶 Walks for Pippin 🐶

Got to see my favourite doggie client the other day who I haven’t seen in a while!

🥰 It was so lovely going in and seeing how excited he was to see me 🥰

💪🏼 A 45 minute walk in the countryside and some brain games when we got home did the trick 💪🏼

🐐 Little Ronnie 🐐

Ronnie and his pal Reggie joined our small herd this year. It’s taken a while for them to settle in however I think we’re finally there!

🥰 Ronnie has come on leaps and bounds!
When Ronnie first came he was extremely shy and nervous of people and it’s taken months for me to be able to offer him scratches. Over the weekend we were able to accomplish this huge step 🥰

🌟 He’s allowed to opt in or out with this and we have worked on a que, which is touching my hand, for this! 🌟

🙏🏼So proud of this little man 🙏🏼

🐎 Out and about with Fin 🐎

🐴 Fin lives with the lovely Becky from in his herd of 6🐴

🍂 Becky & I take them all out on in-hand walks in pairs. We do this for enrichment but also so that they get to explore their surroundings 🍂

🙏🏼 Fin is a gentlemen out around the lanes and seems to enjoy every step of the way now that he’s gained his confidence 🙏🏼

🌼 Its Friday!! 🌼

🐐 This weekend is going to be goat training boot camp. Woody and the gang are going to be introduced to going out on walks…🐐

💪🏼 We will start by introducing them to their head collars and then, if they’re ready, we will put them on. This will all be through positive reinforcement training and at their pace 💪🏼

😉 Woody may decide that the hay shed is way more interesting…😉
