How to keep your horse warm this Winter - Feed lots of fibre! ❄️

Did you know that feeding fibre is the best way to keep horses warm in the winter months as heat is produced when fibre is fermented in the horse’s digestive system. However, if your horse is carrying a little too much weight ensure you choose a low-calorie fibre feed.

Whilst many people will rely on hay or haylage to supplement their horse’s grazing, there are some circumstances when a forage replacer is a more appropriate alternative or addition.
This includes:
☑️Horses with poor dentition
☑️Lack of forage, or poor quality forage
☑️Adding variety in the diet
However, not all feeds can be used as a forage replacer – they must be high in fibre and low in starch, as well as being nutritionally comparable to forage.

WANTED – Part Time Groom

We are looking for a keen and confident individual to help in the mornings and afternoons at our base in Burlescombe, Tiverton, EX16.

Hours to be split morning and afternoon – timings to be discussed however, ideally around 8-10am & 3-5pm, 5 days a week.

The role includes general yard duties; mucking out, poo picking, turning out/bringing in – no riding required. The candidate needs to be capable handling competition horses and youngstock.

For the right candidate, an opportunity may present to make the role full time to also work for the Wychanger website and show team at the same location to help with picking, packing, stock control and trade stand preparation.
