The weather is getting colder, are your outdoor rabbits ready? 🐰🌧️

While wild rabbits live in fairly stable underground temperatures year-round, it’s important to remember that pet rabbits outdoors do not have that luxury.

Here’s how you can help keep your rabbits warm, safe & comfortable:

• Provide a warm, dry, draught-free sleeping area, layers of newspaper & good bedding (straw rather than hay) make a difference.

• Ensure they have a companion, body warmth from a friend is one of the best winter tools.

• Add insulation: line their outdoor housing with plywood & insulation material, protect from wind and rain with tarps or windbreaks.

• Keep access to their exercise area, even in winter they should be able to forage, dig, hop and explore, not stay confined.

• In extreme weather you might consider bringing them indoors, but ensure the indoor space isn’t too warm, is quiet, rabbit-proofed and familiar with some of their usual items.

Cold weather can make it harder to spot what’s really going on under the fur.

A winter wellness screen gives us a clearer picture — helping to catch early signs of things like arthritis or kidney disease, so your pet can keep on bouncing through their day.

🩺 Book their winter screen today — it’s care that keeps the wiggles going. 🐾

📞 Call the practice to book your pet’s wellness screening.

❄️ Is your pet winter-ready? ⛄

Colder days can be tough on joints, weight, and all-round wellbeing — even if your pet looks like they’re doing just fine.

A winter wellness screen* helps us look a little deeper. No guesswork. No waiting for signs. Just peace of mind — so they can keep zooming, tail-wagging, and just being their happy little selves.

📞 Call us to book their winter screen and help keep them feeling good.

Brrrrr it’s getting chilly! 🥶❄️

Just as high temperatures can carry risks when it comes to walking your dog, cold weather can also be dangerous for our four-legged friends, especially if they are small, thin coated, or elderly.

Check out this handy guide from our friends at Pet Health Club before heading out on your winter walks 🐾

A simple half wrap or figure-8 wrap using a soft bandage, scarf, or Thundershirt can help your dog feel more secure and calm by giving gentle, reassuring pressure 💕
The figure 8 wrap for dog anxiety works by applying gentle, constant pressure to the dog's torso, which acts as a calming "hug" and stimulates the release of endorphins, or natural calming chemicals, in the brain. This deep pressure stimulation is a technique used in both animals and humans (similar to swaddling an infant or using a weighted blanket) to help soothe the nervous system and reduce stress responses to triggers like fireworks.
Try it before the noise of fireworks, storms or the Christmas shenanigans begin, to help them settle safely no matter what the trigger 🐶✨
