We are taking part in the National Pet Shop Day event this Saturday 12th July.
We need you to know that we appreciate each and every one of our loyal customers and also those that come to us when they visit Tavistock and show their support for our independent pet store. Ron’s have been trading in Tavistock nearly 40 years now and without your support we wouldn’t be here. Yes... we have more staff to introduce!

This is Jack!

Jack has been with us for a total of 10 years... and this certainly shows! He is most definitely an exotics specialists, he will be able to answer pretty much anything you needs to know about our aquatics and reptiles.

He has a dog, two leopard geckos, an ocellated lizard 🦎 and hopefully some fish of his own in the future.

We asked Jack what his favourite thing about working at Rons Pets and this was his answer;

"My favourite thing about working at Ron’s is caring for the reptiles and fish upstairs—especially creating bioactive enclosures and natural habitats. Helping customers with their setups and hearing about their animals is always a highlight, and being part of such a great team makes it even better!"

Our customers seem to come in regularly requesting to speak to Jack which is amazing! We wish could take credit for his knowledge but Jack takes the time to do a lot of self study, something that is highly praised, his passion pours out when he is upstairs pottering around with the animals. Thank you for the years of hard work and dedication you have given us, we hope you'll stay 🙂

This is Natalie! 👋

Natalie started to work at Rons Pet Supplies part time at the start of the year. She is bubbly, chatty, full of character - and the bosses partner 😜

Natalie has brought so many wonderful new ideas to the shop and helped to brighten the place up. She is also the owner of Ivy Bakes which is the hedge veg shed out the front of the shop. Natalie relocated to Devon from Guernsey, where she had her own bakery, so you absolutely must give some of her bakes a taste, they're incredible!

She has two dogs, some of you will have probably met Charlie already as he has made an appearance in the shop on a few occasions.

Natalie has said " my favourite thing about working at Rons Pets is greeting all of the dogs and chatting to our lovely regulars".

We are very grateful to have Natalie's hands on approach to the shop. Her fresh ideas, confidence and willingness to graft has been just what the place has needed to bring it to life. She has slotted into the team very neatly and we love that she gives Gavin the support he has always needed ❤️

This is Oak! She is just one of the Aylings that work within our family run business.

Oak has been with us forever, we can't even remember when she first started! She has worked at Rons on and off with various different adventures inbetween.

Oak is one of Ron's grandchildren, and for those who know Gary, she is Gary's daughter. Most of you will remember her from running the stall in the pannier market, which has now changed hands.

She has the most handsome golden retriever named Patrick, you'll have to ask her to show you some pictures of him 😍❤️

Oak has said "my favourite thing about working within Rons Pet Supplies is finding creative solutions for our customers".

We love having Oak as part of our team, she is so full of character and loves to have a laugh with the customers and staff. She has so many years of knowledge and experience here, so we treasure the hours of availability she gives us 🤩 Thank you Oak 🤩

In line with Tavistock’s cream tea week we’d like to culminate the event by offering a complimentary hot drink and a homemade raspberry & white chocolate scone tomorrow morning from 10am. Why not pop up with the kids, where the reptiles, fish & budgies will be on display and enjoy a leisurely roam about the shop. The weather is heating up also, so free ice pops for the kids too. Hope to see you all tomorrow - we’re open from 10am until 4pm! Have a great weekend! 🐶🥰

Next on our meet the staff list is Keira! 🙂

Keira has been with Ron's Pet Supplies since April 2024. In this period of just over a year, Keira has come on leaps and bounds. She said she has learnt lots of new and exciting things and it has helped a lot with her anxiety.

She has 2 dogs named Kevin and Steve, a leopard gecko named Mushu, a crested gecko named Yoshi, a bearded dragon named Cheeto, an axolotl named Axel and an aquarium. As you can see by this extended list of pets, Keira is a really great all rounder when it comes to her animal knowledge! Her real passion lies within the exotics department 🦎🐍🐸 so feel free to pick her brains.

We asked Keira what her favourite thing was about working at Ron's Pet Supplies and here is what she said;
"My favourite thing about working at Ron's is showing or helping people to know and understand how to treat animals properly because I see a lot of mistreatment & abuse towards all different types of animals and it's very sad to see this happen. The staff are amazing and we all get on so well which can come very rare in a work environment. Also, working with animals is something I have always wanted to do so it's amazing to be able to work locally and still have that opportunity".

On behalf of the management team here at Ron's Pet Supplies, we would like to share our praise of Keira. She has overcome some of her barriers which has proven to be a wonderful achievement... next step is to answer the phone 😉😊. Keira is always on hand to help us out at the drop of a hat and never complains. We are so grateful to have her as part of our team 🤩

Who's met Sara, then?? We're sure all, if not most of you have!

Sara has recently returned from her maternity leave. This is her beautiful daughter, Nora, in the picture below.

Sara is usually the first one to meet and greet our lovely customers. She is happy, chirpy and full of character. Sara is really great for team morale, even on a rainy day you will find Sara walking around the shop (often talking to herself) with a smile on her face.

She has a dog named Ash, a cat named Meepy and two horses named Adaline & Ffloosie.

Sara says her favourite thing about working at Ron's Pet Supplies "is meeting all of the lovely customers and their pets but also seeing the different trends & advancements/research around new pet foods".

Sara's true strength lies with her design, graphics and computer ability. She creates our labels, signs and will even be sign writing our new delivery van! Sara, you bring a wonderful string to the Ron's Pets bow and we're very lucky to have you!
