The handsome Jackson, with his cute speckled nose, came in for dental treatment and he enjoyed lots of cuddles from the staff.
Jackson had a senior dental which includes pre-operative bloods, intravenous fluids and blood pressure monitoring.

Well the weather has been heating up out there! ☀️🔥🥵
If you're concerned about your pet's health during the heatwave feel free to give us a call and we can offer advice or arrange a consultation with the vet.

Remember that heat stroke signs do not always show straight away, and can be delayed.

Signs include heavy panting or difficulty breathing, excessive drooling, lethargy, vomiting or collapse.

Please take care during this heatwave.
As lovely as it is to enjoy the summer sunshine and get outdoors, it can be deadly for our dogs.

Handsome Julian stayed for the day to have a dental and some teeth extracted.
He previously had a traumatic incident involving a car and sustained a jaw fracture which delayed any dental treatment until recently to remove damaged teeth.
He was very well behaved during his stay and has recovered well 🤗

It can be difficult to maintain the fur of long haired cats at they get older and sweet little Margo here has a very thick, long coat to maintain.
She comes in fairly regularly for some grooming.
She is very affectionate and enjoys head scratches and attention from the staff during her visits 😻✂️🐾

Misiu here sitting patiently with her legs crossed elegantly, whilst we prepared for her dental procedure.

She had a senior dental, which includes pre-operative blood testing and intravenous fluids.
This means that as well as doing the usual general health check, we can make sure we get a clearer picture of how Misiu is doing, by checking her blood, especially the liver and kidney function, to make she is able to undergo the general anaesthetic safely.

We had the beautiful Dottie in today for her final vaccine.
It's been lovely to see her come out of her shell over the past few weeks.
She just needed a reassuring hand hold from her owner after her vaccination and everything was OK 🥰🩺🐾

As much as we enjoy seeing your pets, they are not always fond of coming to see us.
Cats in particular can prove challenging as many of you may know. They can seem to sense what's about to happen and make themselves scarce...

Beautiful Dusty came in for the day to be spayed.
She is recovering here after surgery wrapped up nice and cosy in some blankets with her cuddly toy friend.
We make sure patients are kept warm in a little blanket burrito after surgery as it helps with their recovery 😊
It certainly seemed to help Dusty, and she was soon happily tucking into her post-op meal.

When your pet comes in for the day like Dusty, we can keep a blanket or toy from home in their kennel with them if you think they'll find it comforting.

Eddie came and spent the day with us for neutering surgery and won over the staff with his playful personality.

He is having cuddles with Jay, our Patient Care Assistant who many of you may have seen around the practice. She is the newest addition to our Teddington team 😄⭐

‼️ Lungworm in dogs‼️

We recently received a report about a fatal lungworm case in the area.
Lungworm (Angiostrongylus vasorum) used to be rare, but is now found across most of the UK.
It is potentially fatal to dogs, passed to them when they ingest slugs, snails or their slime. This can be through eating grass, playing with toys left outside, or drinking water from outdoor bowls and puddles.
It is easily prevented with veterinary prescription products available at the practice. These products are also included in our Medivet Healthcare Plan.

Some of you may be aware lately of a bug going around.
We are asking owners to just be aware of this, and if your pet shows any symptoms such as persistent vomiting, diarrhoea and lethargy to give us a call and we can arrange to book an appointment with our Vet Paloma for a check up.

The handsome Apollo enjoyed tucking into some yummy chicken after his castration surgery, sporting some new headgear in the form of a buster collar.
Many animals will cope well with buster collars, and Apollo certainly didn't seem phased at all. He licked that bowl clean 😋😺

Did you know, the buster collar is also known as the Elizabethan collar, named after the ruffs worn in Elizabethan times?
Also more modernly known as the 'Cone of shame' or 'Lampshade'. 😆
