Please read for whoever uses Dawlish Countryside Park!

A local vet has advised today that they've had a number of dogs admitted in the past week or so who have had haemorrhagic gastritis and fever and all of them had been walked in Dawlish Countryside Park before becoming ill. It may be a coincidence as it’s a popular place to walk or it may be worth avoiding for a couple of weeks 🐶

Today I walked along the seafront and saw so many people throwing balls for dogs and lots of puppies 😿
Please think twice when throwing balls for your dogs!

Apart from all the physical issues ball throwing takes away from dog’s natural behaviours of sniffing and exploring, there’s no point in taking them to the beach.
When dogs are so fixated on the ball they’re not engaging with their environment, which is far more beneficial for their mental and physical welfare.
Did you know letting your dog sniff and roam will tire them faster than ball throwing!

New course starting mid April!

If you have a dog that is ball obsessed then you need to join this five week course.

Repetitive ball throwing is bad for your dog mentally and physically. The stress and strain it puts on your dogs body not only lead to injury but will contribute to Arthritis.
Arthritis is not an old dogs disease, it effects all ages and breeds including puppies.
Arthritis is the biggest killer of dogs in the UK. More dogs are enthusianised for this than anything else.

This course will offer safe, stimulating, enriching alternatives to ball throwing that you and your dog will love.

☠️☠️ Be careful when walking the doggies on Teignmouth beach!! ☠️☠️

We’ve received a report of suspected Hemlock water dropwort roots (Oenanthe Crocta) - AKA 'dead man's fingers' - washing up along the beach at Teignmouth and possibly neighbouring coastlines.

Hemlock Water Dropwort is a very common native plant found along waterways across the UK. The roots look and smell like parsnips but can be poisonous to humans and animals if ingested. The roots are often washed down from riverbanks during the winter.

We would advise all dog owners to be vigilant and keep pets on a lead when walking near our coastlines.
