Absolutely fantastic foray today! This was the first of our guided walks and the mushroom gods and weather gods really delivered!

1. Spotted tough shank (Rhodocollybia butyracea)
2. Porcelain Fungus (Oudemansiella mucida)
3. Amethyst deceiver (Laccaria amethystina)
4. Larch Bolete (Suillus grevillei)
5. Ochre Brittle gill (Russula ochroleucha)
6. Bay Bolete (Boletus badius)
7. Hedgehog mushroom (Hydnum repandum)
8. Beech (Slimy) milk cap (Lactarius blennius)

Taunton independent market is set to be a good one. Weather is great and we’ve found an amazing specimen of a Giant Polypore to bring along as well!!

First proper outing and found some stunners.

Pictures 1 & 2 - Parasol mushroom
3 - at first we thought it could be a death cap as it had a greenish tinge to it. But on closer inspection it had no sack. It flummoxed us for a while but had a very strong marzipan smell. Some sort of Agaricus, possibly even a horse mushroom even though you’d normally find them in meadows not woodland.
4 & 5- again had quite a difficulty really pin pointing what this mushroom was. Will be doing some research and updating this post with results.
And 5 is a chestnut bolete - the cracked pattern is the key defining feature but also if you break the stem open you’ll find it’s hollow.

I went to France for 10 days and had to leave the mushrooms to their own devices and pray that my organisation and planning would work so that I had mushrooms to come back to and not a complete disaster. Mushrooms don’t stop growing just because you need a holiday! Some how it worked! Came back to these beauties. 90% of the bags have stayed healthy and all is well. Maybe I should go away more often 😏😏🤩

Wiveliscombe and surrounding areas! We’ll be at wiveliscombe market tomorrow morning from 8am - 12 noon with a lovely assortment of woodland mushrooms as well as our lions mane tinctures and powders.

We’ve had a wonderful month with lots of mushrooms grown and loads of you have been out to support us and what we do. Thank you! Also a big shout out to my wonderful supportive family, who can’t be there all the time but are always there when needed.

It’s all about the oysters this week. These beauties are from the culture taken here in wiveliscombe. They’re super strong, healthy and tasty They make a lovely addition to our mushroom box delivery. Check the website to find out more
