Meet Audrey!
Audrey came into us last week after being dumped in a pub car park. Yep another one.
Its one after another unfortunately, and I’m just so utterly disappointed in humans.
Audrey was absolutely terrified of us and everything else when she arrived. She would run and hide and thump for at least half an hour if she saw us approaching. She sat and hid on her shelf for hours.
After just over a week of patience with her she’s already come so far! she enjoys eating food from our hands, and she already gets excited in the morning to see us for her pellets!
She’s still got a little way to go with her confidence but she’s improving so quickly! 🥹

Audrey is being spayed on the 19th of this month and then she’ll soon be available for adoption! she’s absolutely beautiful with an awesome little lion hairdo!
We estimate Audrey to be about 2 years old. ❤️

Last Rex baby Wren and the two lion head boys beau and blue went into be routinely neutered today!
It was found that blue was actually already neutered- Increadibly suprising to us considering he was 1 of the 10 dumped. But good nonetheless!

Everyone has come through amazingly! ❤️

It’s been a bit hectic here but I’m pleased to share that after around 8 months in rescue, Henry finally hopped home this week with his new girlfriend and I literally couldn’t be happier for him.
Henry has always been a nervous boy due to where he came from and he took time to settle into new places, but now he’s got pebbles for support watching him come straight out the carrier and exploring in his new home is just so so incredible!
I want to also say a huge thankyou to his foster Chelsi Leanne, you’ve brought Henry so far and all the work has brought us to this point and I couldn’t be more grateful.

We are still looking for fosters. Fostering saves lives literally! Help us to help them! ❤️

You can purchase Christmas boxes for our residents directly from the very kind Wild About Bunnies!
We are so greatful to be chosen again this year, our rescues are going to benefit incredibly! ❤️

Our Christmas Rescue Boxes are back for 2024 & bigger than ever!

This year, we've personally chosen 20 ethical rescues to receive boxes for bunnies in their care.

Last year, you donated an incredible 172 boxes in just 4 weeks. How amazing would it be if we sent over 200 boxes to bunnies in need of a Christmas present this year?

For every £10 box you purchase, we also donate £5 worth of goodies. So, the bunnies receive £15 worth of presents for just £10. Postage is also free as we cover that.

If you'd like to donate a box to one of our 20 chosen rescues, you can do so here:

https://wildaboutbunnies.co.uk/collections/christmas-boxes-for-rescue-bunnies/box

If you'd like to donate a box but are unsure which rescue you'd like to donate to, we have an option to purchase one, which we will allocate accordingly.

Your name will be added to the box so the rescue knows who it's from. If you would like your bunnies names added too/instead, just leave us this information in the notes section. If you wish to give it anonymously, please let us know.

The last date to purchase a box is Dec 13th.

This year's rescues are:

Clement Rabbit Rescue

Handsome chaps beau and blue are going to be neutered in a weeks time, and then will be looking for their forever home ❤️

These boys were 2 of 10 dumped and despite being un-neutered absolutely adore each other. Hence we’d like to keep them as a pair and have them adopted together.
They can be adopted as soon as they’re healed from their castrations but will need 6-8 weeks if youd like to bond them to other rabbit/s.
If your interested and or would like more information on the boys please send us a message 💙

As always you will need a very minimum size enclosure of 3m by 2m. If this is outdoors it needs to be appropriately secured, enclosed, predator proofed with 16guage wire mesh and preferably on slabs.
If you have any questions or would like our help please contact us! ❤️😊

Ends 31st October! 🤍 Please consider taking part 🙏🏼❤️‍🩹

Let’s talk about self rescue 🗣️

We have had an increasing number of people contacting us after they have decided to self rescue a rabbit.
Although a positive gesture, the impact of this often leads to stress and worry for both rescues and the person who has rescued, with many people pressuring rescues to take the rabbit off their hands asap.
The rabbit crisis is a real thing, it’s so very real, and we understand everyone wants to help every rabbit but it’s unfortunately unrealistic because there are simply too many unwanted rabbits.
We are pressured to take ‘self rescued’ rabbits on an almost daily basis and our answer, right now and often, is that we simply can’t.
If you have taken a rabbit out of a dangerous situation, that rabbit is now not deemed at risk and we will not prioritise.

🐇 If you cannot accommodate a rabbit for potentially 12 months+ while waiting for a rescue space, please don’t do it.

🐇 If you do not have the finances for vet bills, which could very easily be enormous!, please don’t do it.

🐇 If you have no idea how to care for a rabbit correctly, please don’t do it.

🐇 If you can’t offer adequate space, 3x2meter, that is safe and secure, please don’t do it.

If you self rescue a rabbit, the rabbit becomes your responsibility. Please do not pressure us, or any rescue, to take the rabbit from you quickly.

If you see a rabbit in immediate danger, contact a reputable rescue immediately who will be able to advise how best to proceed.

We are pleased to say that Naomi informed us today that Jess’s blood results have come back as all normal- no kidney changes!
We are going to continue with antibiotics and if the blood in her wee still doesn’t clear up then we will re-assess.
Fingers crossed we see some more improvement 🤞🏻🤍

Bonnie, Clyde and Jess had vets Tuesday, the update is late as we were waiting for an email with the X-ray photo for Bonnie.

Bonnies incisors are clearly malaligned and overgrown. She’s got dental disease as a result of her brachycephalic breed. Extreme breeds almost always have an issue present. There was a fractured upper premolar present on the right side and evidence of infection mainly on the left visible on the x-ray. She had her incisors burred, she had the fractured molar removed and a few others due to mobility. We are treating the infection with a course of antibiotics but she’s likely to need multiple dentals in the future for her molars. They were fairly overgrown and she had ulcerations on her cheeks because of it.

Her incisors haven’t yet been removed but we have said to Naomi we’d like them to be. One less dental for her to have to have and as long as her molars are kept tidy how they should be (with dental’s unfortunately as this is unlikely to happen naturally) she’ll do just fine without overgrown incisors!
She had both her tear ducts flushed, one of which was very blocked. We are hoping now that it’s clear and her teeth issues are being treated that her wheepy eyes will clear 🙏🏼

Clyde, Bonnies bonded partner had his eye checked. We’ve been told by former owners that he had EC when he was younger and formed a cloudy eye later because of it. He is completely blind in it and there’s some obvious cataracts on the far side. Currently this isn’t a worry however Naomi is worried that if it bulges (pressure increases) and or becomes painful then we will have to remove it. At the moment he’s okay but this could be a future issue if it progresses into glaucoma.
For some exciting news both Bonnie and Clyde and going to join us for sanctuary and be bonded to jax and the other 3!
We have a very exciting sanctuary enclosure coming along as we speak ❤️

As you’ll know Jess still had blood present in her wee. She had an x-ray on Tuesday and there was nothing abnormal or obvious, no stones that we were looking for. Jess has been put on antibiotics for a possible UTI and she has had bloods taken and sent to the lab mainly to check her kidneys are healthy and normal. 🤞🏻

Tuesdays bill was £735 which has practically emptied our funds. We’d be most grateful for any donations towards this 🙏🏼❤️
We’ve currently got a fundraiser running too if anyone would like to take part!

We are running a fundraiser In memory of our little Elliot baby who we had to help over the rainbow bridge a couple days ago, and whilst we didn’t know him for very long I know so many people including us loved and rooted for him! ❤️‍🩹

Todays vets bills (a post coming tomorrow) reached over £700. Elliot’s bills still need covering 💔

If anyone would like to support us please consider taking part, to help us raise much needed funding for our vets bills.

UP FOR GRABS 🐰🤍
The incredibly kind Happy Henrys Homes has donated this absolutely amazing hay rack tunnel! (I want one 🤣)
It’s non toxic and would be ideal for bunnies or piggies!

£1 a number as many as you’d like ❤️🙏🏼
Numbers will be added as we go.
