***Request for participants of an MRP survey around palliative care in dogs diagnosed with cancer***

Hi everyone, my name is Emily and I am a MSc Advanced Veterinary Nursing student at Harper Adams University.

As part of my studies, I have decided to carry out research into palliative care, specifically in dogs that have been diagnosed with cancer. Advances in veterinary medicine have led to an increase in the average lifespan of dogs, meaning that, unfortunately, more dogs are being diagnosed with cancer. Cancer is the leading cause of death in dogs, with estimates showing that around 50% of dogs over the age of 10 will develop cancer. The way that cancer is handled, whether through treatment, or palliative care will significantly impact a dog's quality of life.

This survey intends to identify public and veterinary perception and understanding of quality of life in palliative care canine cancer patients; as well as the growing need for compassionate and effective care.

I am asking everyone reading, if they can spare 5-10 minutes of their time to complete this survey so that the greatest representation of the UK general public is attained. I would also greatly appreciate it if you could share this survey as much as possible so that it can reach as many demographics across the UK as possible.

If you have any questions, concerns, or input regarding this study, please contact me on the following email: [email protected] Thank you in advance for your time and contribution.

***Calling all owners of dogs with luxating patella!***

Would anyone be able to help one of our students please with her final year project? Please see details below:

As a final year veterinary physiotherapy student, I am writing a dissertation. I have focused my research on reviewing UK canine owners understanding/experience of luxating patella’s including risk factors, management, clinical signs and treatments. This allows all of us veterinary professionals to understand how we can improve quality of life for our dog friends!

I have chosen to collect my data via interviews which will take place on teams and should take approximately 30 minutes of your time. I’m seeking owners who have had an experience with luxating patella’s.

*Any volunteers must be 18 years of age and must be a dog owner*

If you are interested in taking part please contact me on: [email protected]

Thankyou!
