Amazing 🤩 @capy._.time she loves it!
Cinnamon the Capybara captured the attention of audiences around the world this week after she escaped from her enclosure at Hoo Zoo and Dinosaur World, near Telford.
Following a week of extensive searches throughout both day and night, a team of over a dozen experts assembled by the zoo managed to capture her on Friday afternoon, 20th September 2024.
The successful capture of Cinnamon came after a sighting of her in a pond within the zoo’s woodland conservation area.
Cinnamon has since returned to an enclosure with her twin brother, Churro, and is acclimatising to life back at the zoo. Expert keepers will continue to monitor her around the clock to ensure a seamless transition back to family life.
The zoo also announced that Cinnamon will remain off show to the public this weekend as she re-familiarises herself with her usual surroundings.
Hoo Zoo and Dinosaur World owner, Will Dorrell said, “We’re absolutely delighted to have Cinnamon back at the zoo. We’ve been astounded at the public reaction to Cinnamon’s escape and are so grateful to everybody who has helped to return her safely to the zoo.”
“Cinnamon will be spending some time with her brother in an off-show enclosure this weekend, but all being well we hope that Cinnamon will return to her usual paddock with the rest of her family next week. I know that there will be lots of people who will be very excited to see her, but nobody more so than her own Mum and Dad.”
Last minute planning for the weekend? The weather tomorrow looks great 🌞So book online today and make sure to bring a hat and some sun cream 🍦

Out of London adventure today! We headed to Hoo Zoo this morning. It’s more of an exotic farm than zoo, so don’t expect to see any lions, giraffes etc…
There are lots of different animals to see (lemurs, meerkats, wild cats, farm animals etc…), ride on cars, animal talks/feeds, inside small soft play and a large playground. The main attraction would be the animatronic GIANT dinosaurs. S was a little scared of them, but they look great! A Dino lovers dream 🦖

They didn't realize she was a mere cat 😆
Which bird is always out of breath?

What's yellow on the outside and gray on the inside?
An elephant in a banana costume 😂
What’s the difference between Elon Musk and a lemur?
Elon Musk made an electric car, Lemurs Madagascar 🤣

🐒 Zoo Keepers at Hoo Zoo and Dinosaur World in Telford are celebrating after the arrival of a pair of 'Swamp Monkeys’, making the zoo one of only seven zoological collections in the UK to currently keep the primate.🐒
In the wild, De Brazza monkeys are typically found in swamp forests across central Africa where locals often call them 'the Swamp Monkey’.
Bringing the Swamp Monkeys to Hoo Zoo and Dinosaur World was made possible through a generous donation from Tomato Energy, enabling the zoo to create the habitat for the monkeys’ arrival.
Hoo Zoo and Dinosaur World Director, Will Dorrell said, ‘’We’re ecstatic to be one of only a small number of zoos in the UK to be home to De Brazza monkeys, also known as Swamp Monkeys. Thanks to Tomato Energy’s sponsorship, we have built a specially designed habitat for them to exhibit their natural behaviors and hope that our pair will contribute to the overall long-term conservation of this species.
The De Brazza monkeys are mother and son - a thirteen-year-old female, Neith, and a five-year-old male, Abeeku. It is hoped that an unrelated female will arrive at the zoo in the near future to breed with Abeeku as part of the European breeding programme to safeguard the species from extinction.
Sponsors Tomato Energy, who are shaking up the domestic energy sector by introducing personalised and community-based energy tariffs, are hoping the De Brazza Monkeys love creating their own new community at Hoo Zoo.
Soni Grewal, Community Manager at Tomato Energy, said: “When we heard the plight of the Swamp Monkeys and saw their adorable faces we knew we wanted to help - it’s been a cause close to our hearts. Their habitat has been reduced by unsustainable practices and we, at Tomato Energy, are always looking for ways to improve sustainability within our communities to ensure our planet is here for generations to come.”
Tomato Energy and Telford Zoo Keepers share a common goal - to empower people to put t
