Hoo Zoo and Dinosaur World

Hoo Zoo and Dinosaur World Hoo Zoo and Dinosaur World, formerly known as Hoo Farm Animal Kingdom is a small family run zoo in Shropshire.

TripAdvisors 2nd Best Zoo in the UK for 2023, 2024 and 2025. Celebrating their 30th birthday in 2021, Hoo Farm Animal Kingdom took the huge step of relaunching as Hoo Zoo and Dinosaur World. With over 100 species of animals, 30 animatronic dinosaurs and activities taking place all day Hoo Zoo really is a fun day out whatever the age. Hoo Zoo and Dinosaur World launched back in 1991 as Hoo Farm Cou

ntry Park and over the past 30 years has become one of the midlands premier attractions - even winning National Farm Park of the year along the way. In 2004 the farm became a licensed zoo and hasn’t looked back. Now the zoo is home to not just sheep, cows, pigs and horses but other zoo favourites such as Meerkats, Lemurs, Servals, Caracal and even Wolves. Hoo Zoo and Dinosaur World is extremely passionate about conservation with a strong message throughout the zoo of conservation through education. This is put across through the fun informative meet and greets that take place but also the renowned animal experiences (advanced booking essential). Whilst being great fun, the new dinosaurs are an important part of this message with it being more important than ever that steps are made to stop us going the way of the…..well dinosaurs! It's strongly recommended that customers prebook their tickets at www.hoo-zoo.com due to limited capacities.

Here we have our very own Where's Wally enclosure 😆
Can you count the right number of lemur in this photo? 🤔 Answers in the comments 🤣..
These intelligent lemurs huddle together for warmth during chilly nights in Madagascar. Plus, it's a way to reinforce social bonds and maintain their unique troop dynamics!
It helps give security by physically close contact; this behavior is most commonly observed in ring-tailed lemurs, where huddling forms a "lemur ball". Maybe they had the snow notifications on their mobile today so they are keeping cosy 🤣..

🐒✨ Exciting News from Hoo Zoo! 🐒✨

A family of Squirrel Monkeys has made a 250-mile journey to their new home at Hoo Zoo and Dinosaur World! 🏡🚗

The troop of eight monkeys — Gustavo, Horacio, Maria, Tucette, Antonio, Garcia, Pedro, and Pablo — traveled all the way from Port Lympne Safari Park in Kent. They're now settling into their new custom-designed habitat, filled with plants, trees, and climbing spots that reflect their natural environment in the wild. 🌿🌳

Squirrel Monkeys are native to the tropical forests of Central and South America, living in large social groups. While they’re not currently endangered, they face threats from habitat loss and the illegal pet trade. That's why the arrival of these monkeys is a big moment for conservation education! 🌍

Will Dorrell, one of the owners of Hoo Zoo, shared: "We are absolutely delighted to welcome these incredible creatures to the zoo. We hope they’ll help raise awareness about the importance of rainforest conservation and discourage the illegal pet trade."

The Squirrel Monkeys have already begun to settle in and are already delighting visitors with their playful nature. 🐾

Hoo Zoo and Dinosaur World was ranked as the second-best zoo in the UK last year by TripAdvisor. In addition to the Squirrel Monkeys, the zoo is home to a variety of amazing animals like wolves, lemurs, and the Eurasian Lynx. Come visit and see all of the incredible animals!

It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of our beloved Arctic wolf, Dakota. Born with a congenital eye defect and other health challenges, Dakota has been a true warrior through it all.

Recently, Dakota began struggling more than usual, and this morning, after suddenly falling ill, our specialist vets made the compassionate decision to help him peacefully cross the rainbow bridge. While our hearts are broken, we know that Dakota is now free from pain and discomfort.

He touched so many of us with his gentle nature and quiet courage. Dakota will forever hold a special place in our hearts. 🌈

If you spot this little guy during your visit, rest assured—it’s a wild animal, not an escaped pet! 🦜🌳

Ringneck Parakeets are the only naturalised parrot in the UK and although usually found around London and the South Coast, at winter they can be spotted in Shropshire. Have you seen him during your visit? 🌿

🐾Hoo's Knows🐾
Imagine entering the world no bigger than an onion! That’s how tiny a baby ring-tailed lemur is when it's born - just 3oz of fluff and curiosity.

At first, life is all about snuggling up to Mum’s chest, holding on tight for the ride. But after a couple of weeks, it’s time to be a little more adventurous, switching to a piggyback and sneaking the first taste of solid food.

As confidence grows, so does curiosity! Tiny paws reach out, little legs wobble forward, but Mum is never too far away. It takes five months to gain full independence, but every day is a new step toward becoming a true lemur explorer!
