Hi everyone.

We wanted to let you know that Ryan & I are retiring and moving to Cardiff at the end of this month. This has not been an easy decision but if the last few years have taught us anything it’s to not put things off! Our kids are now living in the south and we want to be nearer to them and have the flexibility to see them regularly.

We will miss you and your furry families so much but just wanted to reassure you the kennels and cattery will continue to operate unchanged and all bookings will be honoured. The Team is all the same and have, as you know, been here for many years - in fact Bonnie and Di have been here for longer than us!

The business has been bought by a lovely family, Geoff, Tina and Emily, who are moving to this area from Brighton. They are farmers so have lots of experience of caring for animals and we know that they will love living in Newport as much as we do.

We would like to thank you so much for all your support and friendship over the last 12 years. Our time at Chetwynd has been an absolute pleasure and we wish you, your pets, our fantastic Team here, and of course Geoff, Tina & Emily all the very best for the future.

Fabulous fun here earlier today. It was a great opportunity to socialise our puppy Diesel in a safe environment and he loved meeting everyone and making new furry friends, especially huge Floki and bouncy Luna! 🐾💕🐾🐶 Highly recommend!

Woody highly recommends Sharon Kelly K9 training! 🐾🐶🐾💕.

He attended her puppy class and it really helped improve his confidence around other dogs.

Do you have a puppy under 16weeks?
4 week puppy course starting Monday Feb 7th 7:30pm.
We look at basic skills (walking on lead, recall, stays etc), social skills (meeting n greeting, body language etc) as well as learning processes, puppy dramas and question answering and much more.
Cost is £35 for the course.

❌ General maintenance to keep your horse or dog performing at their best.

The British Vet Association is reporting higher than usual occurrences of gastroenteritis in dogs. These started in coastal areas but appears to be moving inland and cases have been reported in the Midlands, Wales and the north of England.

We have had no cases here but, purely as a precaution, we have reluctantly decided to temporarily withdraw our dog socialisation activities until the end of this month and are taking extra hygiene precautions within the kennels.

Vets are saying that signs to watch out for include:
- Prolific vomiting of 5 or more episodes in a 12 hour period which can stop for a period (such as overnight) and then starts again
- Dogs are often unable to keep water down at peak vomiting stage
- Anorexia and lethargy for 2-5 days
- Diarrhoea: Most dogs have ‘gravy-like’ diarrhoea

We just wanted to reassure you all that we will continue to monitor the situation closely but if your dog shows any of these symptoms please consult your vet ASAP.

We have had this young male cat handed into us who was found lost at Hodnet football field. He is probably only 3/4 months old and no micrpchip. If anyone knows any information about him then please give us a call on 01630 652935

Following the government announcement yesterday we have temporarily withdrawn offering new customers the opportunity to view our facilities in person before making a booking. We apologise for any inconvenience this causes.

As an alternative we have introduced a taster day care session for new customers and you can also hire out our Doggy playpen for private use.

This little lady has been brought into us by a member of the public. She is microchipped but sadly her details are not up to date, the details that are registered are in the Derbyshire area quite a distance away from where she has been found. We are trying to contact the registered owner using all methods available to us. Let's hope the power of Facebook allows us to reunite her with her owner. If you think you are the owner please contact us on 01952 223122. Proof of ownership will be required.
