Steph and Steph at the BVNA (The British Veterinary Nursing Association) Congress this weekend. Handily held here in Telford this annual event allows RVNs to ensure they keep up to date with all of the latest developments. Vet Nurses are at the heart of our practice and we're really lucky to have such a great team.

Registered Veterinary Nurses are required to undertake regular training in order to maintain their professional status.

This is Laura, she's one of our small team of highly trained veterinary nurses. This month is Veterinary Nursing Awareness Month and we thought you'd like to know more about the important part our nurses play in helping your pet.
If you've been in hospital yourself you will know there are nurses on the wards, separate ones in theatre and different ones again in recovery - a vet nurse has the skills to be all of these types of nurse....and more!
Vet Nurses can carry out procedures such as stitch-ups and will assist the vets during more major surgery. They will also monitor your pet's anaesthetic and will be sitting next to them to comfort them when they come round. They will monitor their recovery and speak to you on the phone as well as sharing their expert advice when it's time for you to take them home.
Nurses dispense medicine and can provide nutritional advice and are also expert pet wranglers encouraging even the most unwilling cat that it really does need its nails cutting!
Wrekin View, like all vets, simply wouldn't function without our nurses and this year has been especially difficult for them - you can't be a vet nurse from home so they've had to do their jobs around all of the additional safety measures we have put in place.

This may be Veterinary Nursing Awareness Month but we will try harder to appreciate their hard work and dedication all year round!

As you may have read in today's papers the majority of the UK's veterinary practices are now owned by corporate organisations.
At Wrekin View we're proud to be one of Telford's very last few remaining independent practices.
Rob and the team have loved seeing more of you and your pets over recent months and are looking forward to returning to 'business as normal' soon.
