Listen to loki's purr π he loves being brushed!
I took Otis an enrichment toy one of the days and he absolutely loved it π Enrichment is one of my favourite things, it's something I constantly bang on about π€£
Look at Rosie's flappy ears π
When you're a dog walker who also does cat visits π
Loki looked a little shocked that he could smell dogs on me!
Indy showing us his tricks today π such a clever boy!
This morning was super rainy so changed up our usual - tried something new! Fun little game teaching frankie "wipe your feet" π€£ This is super engaging for their brain, rewarded with treats of course and in the long run can come in handy when your dog knows how to wipe their own feet!
Rotties are high energy but extremely lazy dogs, today I decided to do a very small amount of running with Knight which basically was just me pretending to run off to hype Knight up to get him to run a little, we got a few bursts haha he had fun bless him!
Really enjoying being able to have him off lead
Lovely chilled walk with Grey this morning, a good run too!
Grey is currently going through his adolescence fear stage and it has hit the poor boy hard, so we've put a plan in place - Lots of decompression, enrichment, scent games and also just relaxation, no pressure or training, just chilled relaxed vibes!
"I don't know how to give this thing back to you it seems to be stuck around my head" -Pebbles
This is what Shadow does every time I go to leave π€£
He stops as soon as I'm out of sight - He just likes to try his luck and get me to stay longer for cuddles after his walk, if I don't have anyone after I do absolutely give in to his demands π
πKennel coughπ
So what is kennel cough?
Kennel cough, also known as canine infectious respiratory disease which affects dogs.
Itβs highly contagious and affected dogs must be kept away from other dogs
Kennel cough symptoms πΆ
β’A persistent dry cough is the most common symptom
β’Coughing in dogs throughout the night that keeps them awake (very distinctive cough and gag ! )
β’Retching
β’Watery nasal discharge
β’In mild cases, dogs are often active and eating normally
β’In severe cases, symptoms progress and can include pneumonia, inappetence, fever, lethargy πΆ
In most cases kennel cough will pass naturally with rest and sometimes like in Zeus's case antibiotics and an anti inflammatory, in Brachycephalic breeds it does tend to take a little longer due to their already compromised breathing and facial structure.. the recovery can take up to 3 weeks..π¦
There are lots of things you can do at home to help with your dogs symptoms...
Steam can loosen up the mucus in your dogs throat and nose also relieving his cough. When it is time for you to take a shower, let your dog sit in the bathroom with you, the steam might make your dog hot, so have a bowl of water in the bathroom for him to drink.
Good old fashioned rest is one of the best remedies for kennel cough. If your dog gets plenty of sleep, it will give his body a chance to fight the virus and recover quicker π€
Manuka honey can be given but not for pups under 12 months or diabetic dogs & those who are allergic to Bees π be sure to keep the area where your dog sleeps warm with no draughts and spray down regularly with leucillin as this helps kill any virus sitting on fabrics and surfaces.
Half a teaspoon per 10kg of dogs body weight twice daily
The kennel cough vaccine π
It's a good idea to have them vaccinated but this doesn't always prevent them getting Kennel cough, this is because much like our flu/flu jab there are many different strains and the vaccine may not prevent
Love a good game of fetch with Pebbles π
On today's menu was lots of different samples of grass for Shadow π
The speed on this dog π¨ I love the way Pebbles tries to herd him like he's a sheep!
Game of Frisbee during Pebble's walk on Friday π
