A.D.S Sheepdog Training Dogs can be boarded with me for training, one-to-one and group handler tuition is also available. Ki Handler tuition is also given. Fully insured.

A.D.S Sheepdog Training is run by Alison Smith, a competent and experienced sheepdog handler with a wealth of experience gained from more than 24 years of training sheepdogs for work on farms and for competition in sheepdog trials. Alison is a well known and successful competitor at sheepdog trials, qualifying her dogs for the English National sheepdog trials for the last 6 successive years. She b

oards sheepdogs for training to work sheep for farm and trial purposes. Alison has a BSc (Hons) degree in Animal Science, allowing her to underpin her training methods with scientific knowledge of animal physiology, behaviour and nutrition. A.D.S Sheepdog Training offers the following services:

Dogs boarded for training to work sheep
One-to-one handler tuition
Tuition for groups of handlers
Top class dogs at stud
Puppies and trained dogs for sale
Sheepdog experience days
Help with all aspects of pet dog behaviour and obedience (any breed)
Only kind training methods are used and problem dogs are a speciality. All dogs boarded for training are looked after to the highest standards and receive at least an hour of exercise per day in addition to training. Individual diets can also be catered for, according to owner preference.

To my lovely friends and clients:

I’m not usually this exhausted until mid lambing but the last few weeks/months and combination of events/stressors has honestly brought me to my knees….I’m just not very good at admitting it. When life gives no other option but to just somehow keep going then that’s what you do, hoping to come out the other side eventually with body and soul still in tact. I have been dealing with a lot of things that are not public knowledge so please bear with me while I try to heal and restore what has been taken out of me in order to cope. I can’t pour from an empty cup and right now that cup feels more like a chasm within me. Please be patient. Existing bookings will still go ahead as scheduled but any additional appointments are on hold for now unless otherwise communicated. Normal service will be resumed as soon as I feel more human again.

*** Covid 19 Virus Update ***

A.D.S Sheepdog Training is currently business as usual. We are keeping up with recommendations which are ever changing but please message privately with any concerns you may have. Further updates will be given with regard to any subsequent changes as and when they occur.

We are asking all our clients to follow the current government guidelines. If you have fever, cough or flu like symptoms please self isolate for 14 days.

If you are cancelling your lessons please do so giving as much notice as possible.

Please keep excellent hand hygiene - wash your hands thoroughly and/or use alcohol gel when arriving before handling any equipment and again before you leave.

If you develop any symptoms within 7 days of training or attendance at the farm please notify us immediately.

If you are at high risk please make the appropriate decision to keep yourself well.

Lambing begins here in early April so lessons will be postponed as a matter of course during this time anyway. Should normal service be unable to be resumed in May then I will provide online resources and training as an alternative.

Such a busy time at the moment with dogs being booked in for training and people booking handler tuition! Love watching my lovely students progressing with their dogs every week 😊 My waiting list for boarding and training currently stands at about 3 months so please book your dog's place in advance if possible to avoid a long wait. Tuition usually needs to be booked a week in advance.
