Mobile Cat Grooming
Hope you're all enjoying the long awaited sunshine
Make sure your kitties are well defluffed for a healthy functional coat, provide areas of shade, lots of fresh, cool water to keep them happy and healthy.
My weirdo grand kitten. He's actually such a good boy. When he comes to stay he happily joins in with my 7.
We have an enclosed garden so he's not going to get lost.

Defluffing trousers is not going to be fun for them but important in preventing matting.
I use a rotating moulting comb. A tiny section of hair at a time .
Mobile Cat grooming
A good defluff to remove a few tiny knots and excess fluff . Sometimes that's all thats needed to keep the coat healthy and functional.
Her guardians do a fantastic job keeping her groomed so I just did the difficult hard to get at bits . This did make her a tad grumpy, but soon forgotten with some fresh catnip.
Update on the Greek kittens .
They had their first outing yesterday. We kept it controlled and short- we were very anxious π. They were very sensible and older brother Louie kept a very close watch on them.
We will build up confidence slowly to let them out for longer, but they really enjoyed the adventure.
Mobile Cat Grooming
Cats are so funny.
After a good groom I'll offer them catnip to chill. Due to cattie cattiude they will often turn their little nose up " I want nothing from you b#tch- until the doors shut on me, then the rolling, flipping and head rubbing begins ππΊ
Catnip can be a great de-stresser for anxious cats.
I recommend giving occasionally as all the time will lessen the effect and fun.
For those that are not bothered with catnip try Silvervine leaf.
A great environmental enrichment especially for indoor cats.

Thank you to all of you that supported the funds raise to bring these two kittens to the UK. Estelle had rescued them and has had made sure they have had all the vaccinations, vet checks and passports.
Wish I could give her a big hug to say thanks. She is extremely sad to see them go .
We will be picking them up on Saturday when they reach Calais
Mobile Cat Grooming
Cats are notoriously good self groomers. I don't believe in fancy haircuts or kitty cats smelling of fresh linen, lavender or roses.
I groom for health and comfort. Here to assist when they need a bit of extra help with shedding, knotts and matts.
This may happen with long haired cats, double coated cats or when your cat is poorly or getting elderly . I want to groom to make them feel better.
Considering Cats πΊπΊ

Mobile Cat Grooming.
Cats are living sentient beings . I try use as little restraint as possible as sometimes it's the restrictions that makes them narky.
This lovely cat is so typical.
His reactions are more cat playfulness- yep when cats play it may seem aggressive, but they're preditory animals , so may grab, pounce and play bite and scratch.
But look how he stays still when I'm working on clipping out those tummy matts.
Before settling down to groom your cat, have a good playtime with them to let them release that preditory pressure. Then once relaxed( and you're relaxed) spend some loving one to one time with them grooming-
If they do hit out and grab/ scratch, move your hand towards them as that makes them let go.
Can't wait to get these boys here. Wish we could tell them they will be treated like Royalty and spoilt .

Brave little boys preparing for their trip to the UK
These two kittens are in Spain. They've had a sad start in life as mum and siblings died when they were very young. They've been looked after by a kind lady, but due to her having to work in the UK these kittens are losing their home. Only other option to to be put out as ferals.
I've offered to bring them back to the UK to live with my daughter who sadly lost her beautiful Killian last year.
Total cost to bring them home is Β£700 .
It will be well worthwhile to see them happy.

GROOMING TIPS
Restraint and De-fluffing a fluffy body.
I don't like using heavy restraint as it can cause cats to panic, so I sit on the floor so I can use my legs and body for disguised restraint I also use stroking to gently coax them back into position.
Sometimes a nervous cat will want to hide their head under your arm or into your body. -what ever works best for them- Aim is safely and as little stress as possible.
To defluff lift the hair against growth and comb through a small section at a time . This ensures all loose fluff is removed. Angle the comb so you are barely touching their skin.
If you encounter a knot, use the edge of the comb to tease out or if really tight clip out with animal trimmers... Never scissors. Cats skin is like tissue paper and can so easily be snipped and a tiny cut can tear.
You can see by her tail flicks she is not enjoying the intense groom, but it's not hurting. I make sure to give breaks so they can recover and accept.
Whatever goes down, keep calm and don't get angry as it will just make the next attempt harder.
Trust and acceptance takes time.
