Why is it that if you mention the word ‘walkies’ these two will plough through sodden knee high grass like torpedoes. However, when the garden is wet: NOPE. They refuse point blank and would rather die than get their princess toes damp.

There’s nothing like a hot shower in the morning to set you up for the day. The bathroom in the cottage has a shower big enough for two!

In the cottage garden all birds are loved and fed. This is a collared dove that has filled up on peanuts and bird food. It is sat in the old apple tree opposite the patio in the garden.

Behind this door opposite the cottage is the Old Cow House. Once the farm’s small herd of cows came in here to be milked. There are still the old stalls in here where the cows slept and were milked in a bygone era.

Even on the wetter days there is so much to do here at Morndyke, in Thirsk, in North Yorkshire. Don’t be put off by a spot of rain, just put on your wellies and your ‘big coat’ and get out there.

Update on the twins! The little ones are now in the Top Field near the shepherds’ huts. Look how they’ve grown! They are so brave and gorgeous.

We pride ourselves here at MORNDYKE for our incredible Health & Safety: Here is Alan demonstrating how to move a 4.5 tonne container with a JCB that has a 3 tonne lift capacity. I love the way the container is balanced precariously by literally 2 inches on the edge of the flat bed trailer as he reverses it off. I daren’t include the photos of him underneath the container putting in bits of wood. To be fair, I am incredibly impressed with his ability to do this stuff. That’s why I married him… Got to love a Yorkshire farmer.

Hi! I’m Tricia and this is my husband Alan.

Here is a bit of information about us:

Morndyke has been the family home of the Phillips’ for at least 100 years.

Having been passed from generation to generation, it is currently in the custodial care of Alan and Tricia Phillips. The farm initially produced bricks (hence the name Brickyard Farm in the address).
