The CRGV season continues and we can confirm, based on kidney analysis, another two cases for December 2023, and 10 cases for January 2024.

Locations of confirmed cases include Surrey, Berkshire, Staffordshire, Buckinghamshire and Herefordshire, Dorset, Wiltshire and a case from London. The UK has now seen 318 confirmed cases, with 10 confirmed in 2024 so far.

We are also thrilled to report we have recently discharged a CRGV survivor, the lovely Matilda (pictured here). Sadly, two of her family members were lost to CRGV. Whilst overjoyed to get her home, our wonderful nursing team will miss her after their amazing and intensive support!

We remain aware of other potential cases in the UK – with the numbers above considered a minimum; however, certain criteria require fulfilment to allow us to confirm a case (and add it to our map) based on a review of a patient’s history and tissue analysis. We continue to support vets with this assessment and encourage concerned colleagues to get in touch.

This disease is still rare, so we’re advising dog owners to remain calm but vigilant and seek advice from their local vet if their dog develops unexplained skin lesions.

I have an add on section which will include notes and a certificate on completion. It is currently available only to those who have attended my Dog First Aid Course.
This section has a lot of transferable skills with associated modifications plus cat specific information.
It is around an hour on Zoom I am going to run a course in the Spring .

I am a Vet nurse with over 30 years of experience within the industry. I have trained and mentored many student vet nurses during this time. I chose to step back from the surgery environment when my husband retired as a Vet after 40 years and have been running this course for the past 4 years. This information is an absolute must for people working professionally with dogs but I think equally important for any dog owner.
The course is a half day interactive course with hands-on practical skills covering a wide range of topics.
I am running the course from the Tidmarsh Village Hall, in Tidmarsh for small groups only, this provides a more individual teaching experience.
I currently don’t offer it at any other venues due to a recent health issue.
The course is a PowerPoint presentation and the course content has not changed from when I had larger group’s in halls.
The cost is £50 per person which includes a folder of notes and a certificate valid for 3 years.
If you are interested in attending a course the next date with availability is March 24th starting at 2pm. The course will finish around 530pm.
Both the January and February courses are fully booked.

A hugely sad day as we said Goodbye to Pebbles 💔🐾
Pebbles arrived with us 13 years ago abandoned in a black duffle bag as a tiny puppy on the Vet practice steps.
She had a very happy, long and healthy life with only a short period of illness at the very end.
She will be sadly missed 😢🐾💔

Today was my first course in the village hall since May. It was a total pleasure to teach albeit a small group of attendees. Great to be back !

So that time of year is fast approaching 🧨🎆🎇 if you haven’t started already START!! the desensitisation process. With fireworks, the process involves exposing your pet to audio recordings of fireworks over a few months, very quietly at first and gradually increasing the volume. To get the best results, it is recommended that you start at least six months before fireworks season.
And this needs repeating every year ! Now after several years of this process I only need to start the desensitisation a month before which works well for my 3 dogs
