What a cracking day again, sun, sun, sun ☀️ Meet little Maggie, here on her holidays and spending time with us. Grab a cuppa and enjoy 3 & a half minutes of mindfulness if you love to watch a dog and her ‘mum’ just chilling together at Calgary Bay this afternoon 😊🐾
Just some dogs and their humans having the best time taking part in some Fun Agility 🤩 Check out a few new starters and those a little more experienced but as you can see, it’s not all about stop watches & clear rounds but making sure furs & hoos are enjoying themselves. There are performances here that are HUGE in terms of the dogs concerned - you know who you are 😉🐾 Opportunities to join us in Dervaig in a group or a 1:1 basis on Saturdays but hopefully Sunday/Monday afternoons too. You may also wish to come along to our ‘Pop Up Paws’ events, starting with Duart Castle on a Thursday from May - we’d love to see you 😀
Another cracking ‘Talking Dogs Rally’ Taster Day at Dervaig Village Hall on Saturday and with kind permission, I’m sharing just some of the teams in action 🐾🤩 Mabel is first up, followed by Douglas then Rollo. All teams should be brimming with pride because for their first experience at the sport, I hope you’ll agree that they were fantastic 👏 Mabel as the tiniest and with the youngest ACE handler will qualify for a Puppy round at the subsequent Trials on Mull due to her age….enjoy everyone 😊
On good days (yesterday) there is nothing Ray 🐾 & I love more than to get away from it all. Here’s our boy enjoying a goat’s ear (taken from home, not found on the hills 😜) at our highest point. Whilst Ray was busy chewing, I got to soak up some sunshine & enjoy the 360 degree view 😎
‘Talking Dogs Rally’. In advance of the first TDR trial in Scotland hosted by us at Duart Castle in May (6th & 7th) we’ve been introducing some of our regulars to the sport in their classes. Take a peek at this montage and if you have yet to be tempted, perhaps this may convince you it’s something fun to do with your dog and helps with overall training. 4 dogs & 5 handlers getting a taster for the very first time, indoors & out. We hope you’ll agree that there’s some awesome work here 🤩 It’s a sport where you and your dog work as a team, competing only against yourself to win awards and at Puppy (18mths & under) & Level One, it’s all done ON leash - what’s not to love 😉🐾 Both initial Taster Days are fully booked but if you would like to join the party, please e mail on [email protected] and we’ll organise more 😊
Oh Ray how could you - he decided to give his own rendition of Flower of Scotland once the pipes kicked off 🏴
😜🐾
#Mindfulness Monday from ‘Paws’ HQ this morning - hope you can enjoy 40 secs of a snowy Loch Cuin as we start gearing up for all that 2023 has to offer. Lots of fun to be had for you & you furs this year - watch this space #dogtraining
Well this hasn’t been the usual way of things in the run up to the Big Day 🎄🎅🏻 Knocked sideways over a fortnight ago 🤒🤧 but today is thankfully the 3rd one standing since & all at Paws HQ wanted to wish you a Merry Christmas and thank you for your support in 2022 🙏 Here’s a little something our Ray submitted for his annual #BTPosse Xmas show for his Twitter pals to raise funds for Border Terrier Welfare - we cleared over £4k this year, amazing. It wasn’t quite the video version we’d planned but maybe next year, we’ll all be fit & healthy for a new performance🤞Stay safe everyone & see you on the other side 🐾😘
Another early start today 😉 Headed back across the water to Lochaline for another ‘Pop Up Paws’ event, all available slots fully booked 😊🐾 As the drive unfolded through the glen from Dervaig had this feathered beastie for company - Mull, Eagle 🦅 island….
What could possibly go wrong? Enter 2 new fun agility recruits, who just happen to be the best of pals. Put them in a field frequented by the occasional rabbit 🐇 and see who can concentrate 🤪 2 weeks now under their belt and we are definitely going in the right direction, honestly 😂🐾
Warning - cuteness overload 😉 It's fair to state that life as a dog trainer can be challenging at times but fill your heart with joy in equal measure. Living on an island with a small population, it may surprise you just how diverse the range of dog related support can be and when it comes to puppies, it truly doesn't get much better than this! I was introduced to a programme many years ago by the fabulous Pam Mackinnon (https://scentwork.com) to help puppy breeders & owners. Meet Daisy, an island dog with her first (and only) planned litter of 8 cracking puppies. See the comments for photos of her taking some time to get herself into tip top condition with us earlier this year, and now here she is with 22 day old pups. Before you ask, yes there are some homes still to be found and these beauties are being reared in accordance with Puppy Culture principles - check out the opening video and please get in touch if you wish to learn more (https://shoppuppyculture.com/pages/puppy-culture-1). Off to visit again later today, yippee & a little more nail clipping......😀🐾
Goodness me what a fab’ day we’ve had at The Old Byre. We finished with 2 furs on their holidays, Sawyer a young Lab’ & his house mate, Mia the Cocker Spaniel. Sawyer brushed up on some loose leash skills & a blast around the agility course (photos to follow) then he stepped aside to allow Mia some fun 🤩 Busy just doesn’t cover it, oh to have that much energy 🤪 She loved Flyball for the first time, a spot of agility then had a taster of ‘Talking Dogs Scentwork’, where handler & dog learn to work as a team…..soooo much potential and we hope to see Mia & Sawyer on one of our TDS Workshops when they come back to Mull 🤞Ps those little blobs on the video were pesky midges but they didn’t stop Mia’s fun 😉
…and the award for the dog that has made us laugh the most today goes to Feorlinn 😂🐾Gorgeous girl who came to us as a puppy, now just turned one and taking her first fun agility session. We saw Feorlinn at the Bunessan Show so Flyball was a piece of cake but oh my, did she make us laugh. Retriever through & through… it started with the numbers on the course and then just watch 🤣
Well that’s the first 4 fabulous furs through the gate: Curaidh, Jax, Cody & Kai…. some fun agility & Flyball in various measure and watch Kai on his first time learning Flyball. We think he loved it 👏🐾
…and then there was Luna 😊🐾nose bumps all the way for the camera😂School starts this morning for our latest recruits, can’t wait….
….and here’s Pluto, who will be joining Mabel on Sunday 😊🐾
…and now for the ahhhh factor. Here is the first of one of our newest recruits. With a group drawing close to their graduation next week, young Mabel is just starting out on her learning experience with us 😉🐾
It’s only week 2 for this pair of clever boys & already smashing it on their Fun Agility Course - say hi to Rollo & Bertie 🐾🤩
Flat Coat Retrievers Morris & Dare get their running & jumping paws going at Tiroran House Bedrooms Cottages Gin Distillery Shop on Monday 😊 Double the work for hoomum whilst hoodad admired her work 🤣 Wagging tails all round as the sun shone at our beautiful setting….enjoy 😉🐾
