With a break in some of the ridiculously wet stuff we managed to get some of our Fun Agility teams back up & running. Hats off to Donna & Astrid today - still only weeks into her learning journey but oh my, fastest around the course 🙌👏🚀 As we gradually phase out some of the beautiful spins she loves to do, there’ll be no stopping her. What a birthday present for Donna 😜🐾😉 36.93 secs 💨

This is the face of the legend who is Barbara Weir and one of our top fans. Dragged from her bed early on Friday morning to be my one and only assistant at the 2024 ‘Paws’ Flyball Challenge at the Bunessan Show. Barbara pops up all over the place supporting & organising countless community events on the island. Soaked but still smiling working with dogs that she loves - I couldn’t have done it without you Barbara, THANK YOU 🙏 Ps not to mention the VERY scary road traffic incident en route to leave us well & truly shaken 😮‍💨

Well that has to be the wettest we have experienced at the 2024 Bunessan Show on Friday but it didn't deter some 23 dogs enjoying our annual Flyball Challenge. With less than a second separating the top 3, it was all to play for. Despite the conditions, plenty of happy, smiley people and some amazed at just what their dogs could do - the vast majority having never done anything like this before. Not ideal for capturing everyone in action but phew, we managed to get at least something with a sodden camera ! Already looking forward to next year and fingers crossed, some sunshine.......who will be our winner in 2025, could it be you and your dog?

As English football fans await the team’s fate this evening, Mull has its very own Lioness zipping around agility courses 😜 Scores on the doors yesterday from timed runs over the same course placed young Rose 2nd with the smallest dog of the day, Mabel - watch this team go and then again, see Rose work fabulously with young Greyling the Goldendoodle cross when his ‘mum’ needed a rest. Great work Rose & well done EVERYONE yesterday:
Andrew & Kai - 1st at 35.64; Rose & Mabel - 2nd at 41.05; Tricia & Greyling - 3rd at 52.68; Nick & Bertie and Donna & Astrid - joint 4th at 52.90; Tricia & Daisy - 6th at 61.39; and Sarah & Mouse in 7th (sabotaged by having the best nose of the day & seeking out ANY discarded treats 🤣). Ps Young Rose ran Greyling at 45.99 😮👏👏🐾

Oh my days, bread pudding is delicious here at our ‘Pop Up Paws’ today at Duart Castle 😋 we’ve had to wait a couple of weeks for the weather to behave itself and whilst windy, fun agility has been on the agenda, Scentwork & later some time with pups from an earlier group at Dervaig 😉🐾

Pfft we don’t think much of the start to the school holidays here on Mull this week 💦💨 BUT dare we say things are looking considerably better from tomorrow 🤩 just as well as it’s one of our Fun Agility days in Dervaig. A number of new starters this year and this is Sweep, 3 sessions now completed - handler & dog learning fast 😉🐾👏

Meet Izzy, my faithful companion in the Spring, Summer & Autumn 😉 Come rain or shine she just keeps on going, providing mown fields for all who join us for training here at Duart - we’ll be back for our Thursday ‘Pop Up Paws’ again this week. This Izzy now has a bigger sister, kindly on loan from a Paws regular for our HQ field at Ardrioch Farm, Dervaig - we spent the afternoon & evening together yesterday 🤣 A big shout out to my long suffering wife, who keeps me fuelled and allows me to enjoy my dog training passion (and weird love of mowing 😜). Hoping this wet spell passes again very soon ☔️

….and that’s a wrap 🙌 huge thanks to our island visitors and local teams that entered. Rosettes to reward their efforts over the weekend and a big shout out to our Judges, Amie & Jayne who make this all happen. Not forgetting Ann, Jayne’s able & trusted assistant. We hope to see you all again and if not next year, 2026. Safe journey home ⛴️ 😉🐾

….setting up for another day here at Duart Castle amidst the mist 🌫️ to the sounds of ferry fog horns ⛴️ Starting very soon but today we are likely to be all done by 2pm. We have a dedicated, fabulous team of ‘Talking Dogs Rally’ teams all the way from the Isle of Wight and that’s going to be a long journey home 😉🐾

What a cracking day again, sun, sun, sun ☀️ Meet little Maggie, here on her holidays and spending time with us. Grab a cuppa and enjoy 3 & a half minutes of mindfulness if you love to watch a dog and her ‘mum’ just chilling together at Calgary Bay this afternoon 😊🐾

Just some dogs and their humans having the best time taking part in some Fun Agility 🤩 Check out a few new starters and those a little more experienced but as you can see, it’s not all about stop watches & clear rounds but making sure furs & hoos are enjoying themselves. There are performances here that are HUGE in terms of the dogs concerned - you know who you are 😉🐾 Opportunities to join us in Dervaig in a group or a 1:1 basis on Saturdays but hopefully Sunday/Monday afternoons too. You may also wish to come along to our ‘Pop Up Paws’ events, starting with Duart Castle on a Thursday from May - we’d love to see you 😀

Here are those Early Learners again, having a bit of fun agility at the end of class today - nose bumping to a hand target & a whizz through a tunnel for the first time…..whoosh! 🤗🐾🙌
