Please share! Such a fabulous local animal rescue and rehoming service!

Time of year perhaps?
Christmas looming, vet bills rising, media scare with electricity bills or just the general cost of living rising like it is.

I’ve turned away 11 dogs this week. 11.
And it’s only Thursday.
I know I simply can’t help them all but I can’t help but worry about the ones I can’t physically fit in.
It just seems relentless at the moment.

We have SO many dogs here needing their forever family, all child friendly except 2 that need older children.
All house trained.
All well mannered, although some need more help with training than others when out and about.

Do you know anyone wanting a companion?

If you aren’t looking yourself, could you maybe share the posts to help try find some of our dogs their forever homes?

We have 7 medium to large breed dogs aged 4-9 and also 3 of Luna’s puppies aged 11 weeks, still looking for their forever homes due to various reasons.

We have, as a practice, been very busy this year, and are currently searching for an additional vet. Recent changes to other practices have meant we have had an increase in new registrations. We have now got to a point where we have to, with regret, not take any new registrations of new clients. Existing clients can, of course, add additional pets. We will have a waiting list that we can add you to. We are also about to extend the practice building which could be quite disruptive. We are very grateful to all our lovely clients, sorry for any disappointment to prospective clients.

Due to the severe heat, Dog Tired will not be walking dogs on Monday & Tuesday. We will still visit dogs for their welfare; these will be 15 min comfort breaks in owners’ shaded gardens. Even with air conditioning, we will not be transporting dogs in our vehicles. We will refresh water bowls. Please leave curtains and windows closed when you leave them.

Dog Tired is expanding its Home Boarding service due to unprecedented demand. We are seeking to recruit an additional 2 home boarding sitters to join our team.

We have 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ ratings awarded by City of York & Hambleton District Councils and are looking to maintain this for all future home boarders.

Dog Tired pay for your licence, insurance and provide training on all policies, procedures, documentation and attendance at a first aid course for dogs.

You will also receive a daily rate of £18.75 per day per dog (£7.50 for additional dogs from same household).

Experienced dog owners essential.

We have been contacted by a TV production company called Five Mile Films, the makers of Channel 4’s heart-warming programme The Dog House. Their new series is currently airing on Channel 4 on Thursdays at 8pm. You can follow this link to watch: https://www.channel4.com/programmes/the-dog-house

They've begun their search for individuals, friends, couples and families who could offer a rescue dog a loving home and share their story with them as part of our next series. They’re looking for people from all walks of life who are looking for a dog for a number of reasons; different hobbies the dog could join in on, different benefits they hope to gain from welcoming a dog into their lives. They wondered if any of our members would be interested in applying for the next series and if you could help us spread the word to them?

The Dog House is set at the animal charity Wood Green in Cambridgeshire (although we are looking nationwide) and has been described as both ‘charming’ and ‘compassionate’. The programme follows prospective owners as they are matched with a rescue dog, specially selected by the expert team of matchmakers at Wood Green. In previous series we have found there are many reasons that people might wish to bring a dog into their lives; loneliness, extra company for a child, to encourage exercise or to live in the moment more! They tell the story of both humans and dogs, as they prepare to meet each other for the first time.

They’re casting our net far and wide to find potential dog-rescuers! They want to hear from anyone who is seriously considering rescuing a dog and is up for talking to us about why they need a dog in their life.

Hello everyone my names Marla
I’ve just got off the “happy bus” and arrived in my foster home. I’m hoping this is the start of a new chapter for me … see I’ve been quite scared recently. The world is dark for me, I’ve had to look after myself and my eyes don’t really work very well. It’s not easy avoiding bad people and nasty dogs when you can’t see where you are going, where the food is or where is the safest place to sleep. But hopefully that’s all behind me now.

Foster mum says I must be the bravest heart in North Yorkshire. I don’t feel too brave but I definitely want to make friends and I think I kind of like these “people’s” who bring me food and water and let me sleep in a soft doggy bed.

I like other dogs and cats, well actually I was a little scared of the cat sniffing me . But I let him and he seemed “orite”. Im about 8 human years old and am mostly blind but apart from that I’m very fit and able so please don’t let my age and disability put you off. Also mum says border collies are super brainy so I won’t have a problem learning through smells and sounds instead of using my eyes. I’ve already adapted so well.

I’m quite happy to sit in the garden and enjoy some peace and quiet, I just need my forever family now so I can finally know what it’s like to have a home.
