This Sunday I will have managed to reach my 60th year !! Also it is my 21st year vegan anniversary !! It has been some journey for sure and I would really love if all you lovely people can help me celebrate by donating to our emergency appeal ! It would really mean a lot to have some peace of mind going into winter when it is by far the hardest and most expensive time to take the best care of our wonderful animals !

I know we have been quiet here re visits, events and open days etc but we really needed to rest to try to get back to optimal health mentally and physically so your continued support really has helped and thank you xx

We will be back next year so please keep following our social media pages which will be back up and running really soon !!

It has also been 21 yrs for me being involved in animal rescue and here's hoping with your love and support and vegan power I can do 21 yrs more :)

Patreon has just released the second part of Mark's stories remembering his time here at FRIEND and this one is all about Rosie.
She was the grand matriarch of the cow family. She sadly passed away some years ago now, but she'll never be forgotten, not by us. She was just so gentle and loving. I took this picture on my very first visit to FRIEND. She was the first one to come up and see who I was. We all loved her so very much x

Urgent appeal to save FRIEND
We are facing huge challenges here at FRIEND as we enter into our 30th year of rescue.
After a very hard Winter, a dramatic decline in monthly donations has meant that we cannot meet our basic costs. Enormous Vet bills over Winter have completely stripped us of any back up emergency funds. We are now facing the harsh reality that we can't carry on like this.
Mark and I have struggled with losses of some of our most beloved older residents this Winter which has taken a great toll on our health and wellbeing.
We are struggling to post on socials regularly or to host our usual events as we have so little energy left and we are grieving.
Everything we have goes to the animals who need us to be there for them.
We both know that we can't continue if we can't afford the basics.
We are asking for an urgent £15,000 as a lifeline for FRIEND.
Animals need feeding every day.
They need bedding and most importantly they need veterinary care.
We need your support now more than ever please donate whatever you can.

I would really love to say a massive thank you to the three volunteers who turned up this morning in just the worst weather conditions !! In fact I would love to shout out to volunteers in all sanctuaries for helping when tbh there are much more shall we say warmer and dryer things to do on a Saturday !! Honestly you are truly the cogs that keep us going and without you we would just stop ! X###

Friend Farmed Animal Sanctuary is a no kill sanctuary, the animals that live here stay with us until the day they die. Registered charity number 1173318.

FRIEND is a grassroots vegan animal sanctuary in Kent, UK, we provide a forever home for the animals who find their way here and we currently have around 200 animal residents. Some are rescued from places of abuse, some arrive following the death of their guardian, some have been dumped outside. No matter how they get here, they are all welcome to live the rest of their lives as naturally as possible.

We offer a free roaming (as far as possible and safe) home to cows, sheep, goats, chickens, ducks, geese, turkeys, dogs, cats, and 40+ pigs.

Running an animal charity is expensive. We are 100% volunteer based and depend solely on funding from our supporters. The animals need food, shelter, bedding, essential equipment, veterinary bills, transportation and more. With monthly donations we have a lot more financial security for the animals, they allow us to plan ahead and budget in a way that means we can provide for everyone's needs allowing us to offer our beloved animals the essential and optimum care
