🎄 Keep Your Pets Safe This Christmas🎄
As we prepare for a season filled with festive feasts and treats, let’s not forget our furry family members! Many popular holiday foods can be harmful—or even toxic—to pets. Here’s a quick guide to what to keep away from curious paws and snouts:
🚫 Chocolate – A holiday favorite for us, but it contains theobromine, which is toxic to dogs and cats.
🚫 Grapes and Raisins – Found in mince pies and Christmas puddings, these can cause kidney failure in pets.
🚫 Onions, Garlic, Leeks and Chives – Common in stuffing and gravy, these can damage your pet’s red blood cells.
🚫 Macadamia Nuts – Found in cookies and holiday treats, these can cause weakness, tremors, temporary paralysis of hind limbs, and vomiting in dogs
🚫 Alcohol – Even small amounts can cause serious issues like vomiting, difficulty breathing, and coordination problems.
🚫 Bones – Cooked bones from your roast can splinter and pose a choking hazard or cause internal injuries.
🚫 Fatty Foods - such as ham trimmings can cause pancreatitis.
🚫 Xylitol – Found in sugar-free sweets and desserts, this artificial sweetener is extremely toxic to pets.
What’s Safe?
Stick to pet-safe treats or plain, cooked turkey (without seasoning or skin).
‼️If your pet accidentally eats something they shouldn’t, contact your vet immediately‼️
