We are thrilled to announce that Totnes Rare Breeds Farm will be open from 26th December to 1st January during the South Devon Railway’s festive steam services, and again from 3rd to 5th January for their Winter Steam Gala! 🚂✨

Our farm and café will be open between 1000 and 1500 each day, and we’ll be serving a variety of hot and cold drinks and delicious food. 🍰☕️

Come and meet our friendly animals, enjoy the beautiful countryside, and watch the steam trains go by. It’s the perfect way to spend your holiday season and a great stop to make during your journey on the South Devon Railway.

We can’t wait to see you there! 🐾❤️

We will be open on Saturday 9th November, when the South Devon Railway are operating their diesel gala day. Our cafe and farm will be open from 1000 until 1500, so why not pop in for a drink and some food between your train rides?

We have been hard at work improving the animal pens around the farm, and everyone seems to be enjoying it, including the Toulouse Goose here!

Come and see our newest arrivals in time for Easter! Our rabbit Honey has given birth to 5 beautiful babies.

We’re kicking off Easter tomorrow with our annual Easter Egg Hunt 🐣

Between Friday 29th March and Wednesday 3rd April search all around the farm to find all of the Easter-themed toys that are hiding, and win a treat!

Don’t forget to pick up a hunt sheet in the cafe or hatchery.

🌟 Position: Café Assistant�
🕒 Schedule: 5 days a week (Immediate start until 3rd November)�
📍 Location: Totnes Rare Breeds Farm, adjacent to the South Devon Railway Totnes Riverside Station.

We’re looking for a friendly and energetic Café Assistant to join our team! If you have a passion for customer service and some experience in a café setting, we’d love to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities:
• Preparing a variety of drinks, including expertly crafted barista coffee
• Preparing light meals.
• Serving our lovely customers and making them feel welcome
• Handling transactions with care using the till
• Clearing tables, assisting with washing dishes and maintaining high levels of cleaninless throughout the café.

Ideal Candidate:
• Previous experience in a small café environment preferred
• A team player with a can-do attitude
• A love for working in a dynamic, family-friendly setting

This is a great opportunity for a seasonal role in the unique setting of our Garden Cafe, with steam trains passing your “office” window and the sounds of the farm nearby.

We’re thrilled to announce that starting tomorrow, Saturday 23rd March, we’ll be open daily! Come and meet our adorable animals and enjoy a day filled with fun and learning for all ages. 🐑🐐🐓

Our furry and feathered friends at Totnes Rare Breeds Farm can’t wait to welcome you! Get up close with our cuddly rabbits, marvel at the majestic owls, and don’t miss the chance to feed our friendly goats.

First admission daily is at 1000, closing at 1700 with last admission at 1630. Our Garden Cafe will also be open, with an exciting new menu for 2024.

You can find us right next to the South Devon Railway station at Totnes Riverside. We can’t wait to see you!

It is with sadness that we share the news that our goat Gary passed away at the end of last week. Gary was a cherished resident of our small farm, and his playful antics brought joy to visitors of all ages.

Gary’s mischievous spirit and gentle nature endeared him to everyone who had the pleasure of meeting him. Whether he was nibbling on fresh grass or playfully head-butting his fellow goat companions, Gary left an indelible mark on our hearts.

Gary, you will be dearly missed. Thank you for gracing our lives with your presence. 🐐❤️

Our European Eagle Owl Wizard has been to the pop up cafe in Totnes today. Art Malik fell in love with Wizard!

If you don't manage to catch us out and about with our owls then make sure to pay us a visit when we re-open from 23 March.

Our Tolouse Geese have been enjoying a nice shower from one of our volunteers.

We're hard at work getting the farm ready to reopen and we can't wait to see you from the 23rd March!

It is with great sadness that we announce that Oscar, our Northern white-faced owl, has passed away. He came to the farm as a baby and lived until he was 14 years old.
He was hand reared by the staff, volunteers and the public as his parents wouldn’t feed him. Oscar was very much loved by everyone at the farm. His cheeky personality will certainly be missed by all.

If anyone has any photos of Oscar we would love to see them.
