🚨⚠️Veterinary Attestation Visit Expiry Warning⚠️🚨
Last year, on the 13th December 2023, a new piece of legislation came in which requires a vet to have visited your farm in the last year to inspect all stock going to market or abattoirs.
This form must be updated annually. We carried out a lot of attestation visits in November and December 2023, one of which may have been yours!
If your attestation form is due to run out soon, and you need to update yours, please ring Debbie (01327 350239) as soon as possible - we kindly request you don’t leave it to the last minute because we may not be able to fit you in at short notice...
An attestation visit requires a vet to see all stock on farm- this may include cattle, sheep, pigs, and goats- that may enter the human food chain. Once completed, the form and associated Veterinary Attestation Number (VAN), covers you for a year.
If you are part of any of the following schemes, the requirements for EU laws are fulfilled and a VAN is not required. The compliant schemes are:
o Red Tractor
o Lion Quality
o Farm Assured Welsh Livestock Beef and Lamb Scheme/ Welsh Lamb and Beef Producers Ltd
o Poultry Health Scheme
o RSPCA Assured
If a farm annual health and welfare review has occurred as part of the Animal Health and Welfare Pathway (AHWP), then a VAN number will be included in part of the summary information sent.
If you have any questions about the VAN legislation, or you want to check if you need one, please contact us to ask!
