Your doggies will be picked up from their homes and returned with clean paws. I have always had and been around dogs as members of our family so I understand their needs, although all unique, ultimately come down to exercise, stimulation and socialisation. Having had dogs and having to work long hours and juggle other commitments while ensuring my four-legged friend was well cared for I am best pl

aced to understand how hard it can be. At Doggy Dawdles we offer a friendly, reliable dog walking service around the Lothians. Walks will be varied around the county. Your dog will be picked up from their home and dropped off, with clean paws (and anything else that gets muddy) having had lots of fun. Your doggy will be given their own collar and tag with Doggy Dawdles tags. All doggies, if permission given, will have their photos taken on walks and visits and posted on Doggy Dawdles social media as a means to keep mums and dads up-to-date πŸ™‚ Shows the fur babies having fun! New Dogs will be walked on the leash until we learn to trust each other, and recall can be tested. Doggy Dawdles will ensure that your dogs needs are met while giving them some loving company, with cuddles and treats (if allowed) throughout the working day. I have spent the last wee while studying and travelling, continuing my love for Animals, and have a HNC in Animal Care, BSc Animal Biology, MSc Wildlife Biology and Conservation and a diploma in Advanced Canine Behaviour from the British College of Canine Studies. I also offer:
1. Pet Visits for small furries (cats, rodents and rabbits, etc), birds and reptiles.
2. Pet Sitting for dogs in their own home for 1 or more nights while you go to an event or any on a holiday.
3. Event Chaperone - if you would like your dog(s) to be a part of your big day or other event.
4. Training - 1:1 sessions
5. Nutrition advice
6. Pet Transportation

Dogs must be fully vaccinated (or titre tested), flea and worm treated. In season bi***es will be available for solo walks only (where availability allows). Unneutered dogs will be assessed as individuals. I will cover the local areas from Tranent (Musselburgh, Prestonpans, Wallyford, Port Seton, Macmerry, Ormiston and Elphinstone) as standard but will consider out with these areas too, so please ask. If you are looking at treats in the supermarkets, it's not the ideal place to find good nutritional safe treats, but as you would with your own food, check the packaging.

Made in China = put it back on the shelf!
Rawhide = put it back on the shelf!
Xylotol =put it back on the shelf!

Ideally, you want to be buying from a local pet store that can provide you with good quality advice and products suitable for your dogs needs with any allergies taken in to account.

Great items to try:
Trachea
Rabbit ears
Cow/Pigs ears
Natural bones
Pizzles

Let me know if you would like some suggestions or if you think your dog may have an allergy.

Which type of dog do you have?

A lot of people still think socialising just means getting our new dog to meet other dogs, but it's more complex than that.

Just like people who have different preferences for the personality type they interact with, so does your dog.

It's ok to have an aggressive type. Your dog needs you to support them, and their previous experiences have taught them how to behave like this. You do not have a bad dog. You have a dog that needs help & support.

It's ok to have a selective type. Your dog is not rude, not been socialised enough, not scared, or whatever other stupid comment another dog owner has told you.

It's ok to have a tolerant type. If this is your dog, then this is great, but be careful not to take advantage of their tolerating nature and put them in too many tolerating situations. You want your dog to enjoy being out with you and trust you will make good decisions for them.

It's ok to have the social type. Just make sure they don't want to share their joy and sociability with the selective or aggressive type. If the social dog gets too many party pooper moments, they may become a
selective type.

When out walking, be aware of which personality type you have and the impact your decisions have on them or other dogs you may meet. Accept your dog for the personality they have.

A good trainer will be able to help you with any of the above types of personality as walks can be a bit stressful, especially for the selective and aggressive type. But please don't be offended if they suggest group classes are not the place for your dog at the moment. You want to enjoy training your dog, and putting them in a position that they find difficult won't help either of you. Set them and yourself up for success.

So next time you're out on a walk, have a think about all the personality types and how/if they would like to interact with your dog
