I bought Buffy, a French Bulldog, my first pedigree dog, just over three years ago. I soon found out, that as well as costing a lot more than non-pedigree dogs to buy, some of them also cost a fortune in vet’s fees. Buffy had allergies and she itched and scratched almost non stop. Her ears got inflamed, her a**l glands needed emptying (never even heard of that before) and she constantly licked her paws.
After trying all sorts of prescriptions from the vet and alternative remedies, I decided to give raw food a go. It seemed very complicated at first, with all the ratios of bone, meat and offal, (what!!) but I soon realised that I didn’t have to DIY and could buy complete food, that is perfectly balanced, frozen into nice packages and easy to defrost. I will, of course, be selling all the ingredients for the DIY enthusiast.
The difference is amazing. Buffy is no longer on expensive medication, doesn’t itch, scratch and lick her paws, her ears have cleared up and she hasn’t had to have her a**l glands emptied again. I don’t know if you know much about French Bulldogs, but they are very prone to incredibly smelly “bottom burps”. If nothing else, raw feeding has completely eliminated me being gassed out of my own home!
All the four legged members of the family were happily eating raw food, in total four dogs, (Buffy, two other frenchies and a lurcher) and five cats. Oh yes, my cats absolutely love raw. However the down side was having to travel up to 30 miles away to buy it as there were no local suppliers. And then I thought - why not open my own shop 'cos maybe there are many other pet lovers in the Rhondda who would also like the opportunity to feed their dogs and cats raw food...... problem solved.
