Saw a post a few days ago berating a dog walker letting four of her 6 dogs run up to someone's woman's nervous dog.(not right at all)

Well today we had 9 dogs...all under control and jo bloggs let her 2 dogs run up to ours (2 of which do well in the group we selected for them but do not like rude dogs in their face)
Sorry but it happens both ways, this woman didn't apologies, or make an effort to retrieve her dogs! Just kept calling to no avail, one of our nervy ones growled, but shouldn't of had to have give that warning!!

Luckily after 14 years of the job and knowing our dogs , we managed the situation and as said all 9 of ours were with us and by us, under control, even with the woman's two running riot, ours behaved impeccably, I'm proud of our gang 👏 ❤️

Didn't take pictures, but so annoying one of our walks has been ruined...rocked up today to what looks like a car burnt down, too many sharp objects to risk the dogs even getting out the van 💔
Fly tipping and burning seems to be rife right now, what's wrong with people 😕
We have limits to where we can go, due to the nature of the job and not wanting to upset jo public, as coming across 6 to 8 dogs can be intimidating...
Even if under control.
Another walk off the list, due to inconsiderate wombles,
If you see it, please report it!! 🙏 ❤️

Not my words..obviously 🤣 but true and wise!! ❤️👌

Common Objections & How to Handle Them
1. “That’s a bit pricey.”

You:
Totally get it — it’s a big deal trusting someone with your pet and your money. I price my service to reflect the fact that I’m fully insured, trained, and treat your dog like they’re my own. It’s not just a walk — it’s proper care, safety, and peace of mind.

You could add:
I also do updates and photos, and I always show up — rain or shine! A lot of cheaper walkers aren’t insured or experienced, so you’re not always comparing like for like.

Follow-up if they say "But someone else is cheaper":
That’s fair — and I know it’s tempting. But I’d say just check what they include. I cover all the boring-but-important stuff like insurance, pet first aid, and security — so you don’t have to worry.

Quick reply for texts/calls:
"Totally get it. My rates reflect experience, insurance, and guaranteed care — not just a walk, but someone you can rely on."

2. “I’ve got a friend who can do it.”

You:
I hear that a lot! Friends can be great — but sometimes life gets in the way, or there’s a bit of awkwardness if something goes wrong. With me, it’s all professional, reliable, and no weirdness — just proper pet care with all the right cover.

You could add:
And if your plans change, or your friend gets busy, I’ve got backup cover and flexible scheduling — so you’re never stuck.
Follow-up if they say “I trust them more”:
Of course — it’s about what you’re comfortable with. I’d just say: if you ever need someone a bit more structured and reliable, I’m here. Happy to start with a short trial too.

Quick reply:
"Friends are fab, but I offer structure, reliability, and insurance — no favours needed, just stress-free support.
"
3. “My dog doesn’t like strangers.”

You:
Oh bless them — honestly, I work with lots of shy or nervous dogs, and I always go at their pace. We’d start with a relaxed meet-and-greet, and I never force anything. It’s all very chilled and positive.

You could add:
I use kind, reward-based methods — no harsh handling or rushing. And I’ll always keep you updated on how they’re getting on.

Follow-up if they say "What if they don’t like you?":
That’s okay too! It’s a two-way thing — if it doesn’t feel right for you or your dog, no pressure at all. But I usually find that, with time, even the nervous ones start to enjoy their time with me.

Quick reply:
"No worries — I take it slow, kind, and on your dog’s terms. Happy to do a no-pressure meet first."

4. “I’m not keen on someone coming into my house.”
You:

Totally understandable. I’d feel the same. I’m DBS-checked, fully insured, and I’ve got a few lovely clients who’d be happy to vouch for me if that helps. I treat every home with respect, and I’ve got clear key-handling and access policies so you’re never left wondering.

You could add:
Also happy to log entry/exit times or give a quick “I’m here” message each visit. I want you to feel comfortable, always.
Follow-up if they ask “What if something goes wrong?”
Honestly, it’s rare, but if it ever did — I’m insured, I’d be in touch straight away, and I always keep a record of visits and notes
Quick reply:
"Totally get it. I’m DBS-checked, insured, and respectful of your home. It’s all part of building trust with you."

5. “I don’t think I need it — I walk the dog myself.”

You:
That’s brilliant — I always say owners know their dogs best. I’m not here to replace you — I’m just here for the days when life gets hectic. Whether it’s work, appointments, or just needing a break, I’ve got your back.

You could add:
Even one or two regular walks a week can help give your dog extra stimulation, and you a bit of breathing space.
Follow-up if they ask “Even once a week?”

Absolutely! That alone can help with behaviour, boredom, and gives them something to look forward to. And you get a break without the guilt.

Quick reply:
"I’m just your back-up — here when life gets busy. Even one walk a week can make a difference."

Title: 10 Fun and Fascinating Facts About Dogs Every Owner Should Know

Introduction:
Dogs are not just loyal companions; they're full of surprises and unique traits. Whether you're a new dog owner or have had a furry friend for years, there’s always something new to learn about these amazing creatures. Here are 10 fun and fascinating facts about dogs that will make you appreciate your pet even more!

---

1. Dogs Have an Incredible Sense of Smell
Dogs have up to 300 million smell receptors in their noses, compared to a human's 5 million! This incredible sense of smell allows dogs to detect certain diseases, find missing people, and even identify specific scents in their environment. It's no wonder they're used in search-and-rescue missions and sniffing out drugs or explosives!

---

2. Dogs Can Understand Human Emotions
Dogs are expert emotion readers. Studies show that dogs can sense their owner's feelings by interpreting facial expressions and body language. They’re known to approach their owners when they’re sad or stressed, offering comfort just when it's needed most.

---

3. Dogs Dream, Just Like Humans
Have you ever noticed your dog twitching or moving their legs while they're asleep? They’re probably dreaming! Dogs experience Rapid Eye Movement (REM) sleep, the stage where dreams occur. It’s likely that they’re dreaming about their daily activities, like playing or going for a walk.

---

4. A Dog’s Noseprint Is Unique
Just like human fingerprints, every dog’s noseprint is unique. The ridges and patterns on a dog’s nose can be used for identification, although it’s not commonly used for tracking purposes. Still, it’s a fascinating feature that makes your pup one of a kind!

---

5. Dogs Have Sweat Glands in Their Paws
Unlike humans, dogs don’t sweat all over their bodies. They only have sweat glands in their paws, which is why you'll often see wet paw prints on the floor after a hot day. To stay cool, dogs mainly rely on panting to regulate their body temperature.

---

6. Dogs’ Hearing Is Far Superior to Ours
Dogs can hear frequencies as high as 65,000 Hz, compared to humans, who can only hear up to 20,000 Hz. This keen sense of hearing helps them detect sounds that are imperceptible to us, such as the high-pitched squeak of a rodent or a distant siren.

---

7. Dogs Can Be Left- or Right-Pawed
Just like humans can be left- or right-handed, dogs can also have a dominant paw. This is known as "lateralization." If you’re unsure which paw your dog prefers, you can test it by offering them a treat or toy. Most dogs show a preference for one side, similar to how we favor one hand over the other.

---

8. The Basenji Is the Only Dog That Doesn’t Bark
While many dogs bark to communicate, the Basenji breed is famous for not barking at all. Instead, they produce a unique sound often described as a "baroo," a yodel-like noise. This breed is native to Central Africa and is known for its independence and intelligence.

---

9. Dogs Can Recognize Themselves in the Mirror
While many animals can't recognize themselves in mirrors, studies show that some dogs can. It's thought that dogs can use mirrors to identify themselves, as long as they've been exposed to mirrors early in life. This shows a level of self-awareness and cognitive development that's quite advanced for animals.

---

10. The Greyhound Is the Fastest Dog Breed
If you’ve ever watched a Greyhound race, you know these dogs are incredibly fast. Greyhounds can reach speeds of up to 45 miles per hour, making them the fastest dog breed. Their slim build and long legs help them achieve these high speeds, which makes them excellent racing dogs.

---

Conclusion:
Dogs are amazing creatures with so many unique qualities that set them apart from other animals. Whether it’s their exceptional senses or their ability to form deep emotional bonds, there’s always something new to learn and appreciate about our canine companions. As dog owners, we’re lucky to have these fascinating creatures in our lives!
