🎖️Today marks the 80th anniversary of the Battle of Arnhem and I’m lucky enough to be at the Airborne Memorial Service. Operation Market Garden was the largest airborne landing in military history and is regarded as one of the most controversial episodes of the Second World War - so much so that Hollywood made a film about it called a Bridge Too Far. Amongst the 35,000 airborne troops was a plucky hen - strapped to her owner Lt. Pat Glover. This is the story of Myrtle the parachick. 🐓🎖️

Case study: Coco gets worried about vehicles causing her to dart about, freeze, pull on lead, jump up, even vocalise etc., making loose lead challenging for her family.
We’ve recently started working together to help build Coco’s confidence, introduce vehicles slowly and steadily. Ultimately, the aim is to have her comfortable around vehicles and able to walk by the handler’s side, generalising this behaviour across contexts. She’s making super progress. Great effort Team Coco - onwards and upwards. 💪🎉🐾

So proud of Team Toby - they’ve worked their socks off and 14 months on, we are seeing Toby the Labradoodle reliably walking around others, interacting with dogs on and off-lead, and has even Graduated Puppy & Dog School. Previously Toby would lunge, growl, bark, snap and jump on dogs. His case is a great testament to having bucket loads of patience, having consistency and working systematically at Toby’s pace, and his carers being fully committed to the behavioural plan.💪 🎉. Thanks to Blaze for his support today helping be Toby’s wingman (or wingdog)! 🐶. #animalbehaviour #behaviourchange #labradoodles #clinicalanimalbehaviourist #certifiedtrainer #positively
ℹ️ One for my fellow animal lovers and history buffs…
Check out the brilliant story of Mary the WWII pigeon who flew numerous missions during the war. Three of Mary’s most notable missions resulted in her being injured by a Hawk that had been sent up by the Nazi soldiers, and she was also shot during other flights; nursed back to health by her keeper, Charlie - a boot maker. Mary’s bravery led to her receiving the PDSA’s Dickin Medal (number 32) and this was featured on BBC’s Antiques Roadshow. 🎖️
Watch the episode at the following link and it’s around 52.30 mins into the show. Enjoy!
