2nd area festival today and we came 4th in the Novice!!!!! Just off the podium but we might get a wildcard. 68.96% so MORE than pleased! Amazing support as usual from Aimee Martin and the best owner, Heidi Chilvers. Added pressure from my trainer, Bella Tschaikowsky being present but it seemed to do the trick! 😂 Bury Farm Equestrian Village were a great venue as usual. Had a lovely 2 weeks away!!! Almost lasted with no pony contact but buckled at the end! Found a lovely yard that did a Medieval show in the evenings and hacks through the day! 🥰 🐴 Back to it tomorrow with an intense week to get back on track for my 2nd area festival over the bank holiday!! 😱😱

A great first day. Travelled smoothly and settled well. Warmed up lovely in an extremely busy arena which is NOT his favourite and managed to only do 1 x 180’ spin! Went in the arena, nailed the centre line and then just felt a little shy and behind my hand. Pleased with the score but out of the top 10 today. Roll on tomorrow……big sleeps for me and Mr T.
Day 2……we only pulled off a 2nd in the elementary bronze and therefore qualified for the championships!!!! First one into the arena at 8.30am and led until the end where we got pipped by 0.05%!!!
Massive thanks to Heidi Chilvers (Theo’s owner) and Bella (my trainer) 🥰

Great week of lessons. Fab improvement yesterday from Katie Dolling and her young horse. A lovely message from Lucy Baker to say she’d nailed right canter lead on her gorgeous boy and a significant difference from Aimee Martin and the delightful Archie proving that hard work pays off!!!! 🥰

An absolute privilege to ride for team bucks BD Inter County Challenge Buckinghamshire Theo behaved himself despite a very busy warm up arena and we came out with a 66.9% and a 66.6% in the Elementary. 11th place on day 1 and 10th on day 2. New experience riding as part of a team and one I thoroughly enjoyed! Onwards to the next adventure 🥰

Here’s a little background to myself:-
I started riding back in 1984 at 7yrs old at my local riding school. Ollie the pony taught me that perseverance pays off and standing in the corner of school, kicking like crazy to get one sideways step would pave my way! Eventually, after my instructors promise of moving to a different pony once I’d trotted 1 circuit of the arena I was ‘upgraded’ mid lesson to Lady!
Many ponies later, mostly the tricky ones that no one else wanted to to ride and at the grand old age of 13yrs old my non-horsey parents agreed to buy me my own pony. Along came Kez. A 14.2hh Connie with a will as strong as mine and we were a match made in heaven. Fast forward to ‘A’ level years and I decided Kez needed to do more than I had time for and we parted company. She was sold and became a brilliant polocrosse pony.
It soon became clear that the pressure of exams was not my strong point so ’normal’ university wasn’t going to work so off I went to an equine college in the shape of Bishop Burton nr Hull. Here I met some of the best friends who I’m still in touch with today. I managed to gain my Higher National Diploma in equine and business management and off I went into the equine industry thinking I knew everything and anything about horses!!!! Looking back with age on my side, I realise I actually knew nothing about anything! 😂
I worked at several different yards from hunting to showjumping to eventing and I found myself moving to the South to Manor Farm in 2002. Here I was an event/dressage groom and probably had the most influential 2yrs! I loved it but it was cut short by a bad dislocated shoulder injury which resulted in me leaving the industry.
2004 - 2020 saw me in various roles from prison officer to herbal supplement sales rep to starting my own childminding business when I had my son in 2013. It was the temporary move to Ireland in 2020 due my husbands job that saw me tentatively dip my toe back into the equine world. With no ‘job’ to do other than run the house I needed something to occupy my mind so I started riding lessons again at Monksfield Equestrian Centre in Dublin. After a few lessons I then started mucking out there and met some great people and horses. I owe them all a great deal for making my life complete again. ♥️
It was then that I realised this is where I needed to be and this is what I’m supposed to be doing. So…..get more qualifications was the aim.
We returned to the UK in 2022 and as luck would have it, Manor Farm needed a Yard Manager!!! Could I do it……I wasn’t sure but Manor Farm called to me and here I am. I have the best team of staff, the best liveries and the work is hard but rewarding. With a more mature head on my shoulders after a long break away I find I approach things from a different angle and listen to the horses more than I ever did. This has definitely made my day to day life easier and makes my equine experience much more rewarding. I’ve reached my goal of becoming an Accredited Professional Coach and who knows what the future will bring. Watch this space as they say! 😂
Anyway……I’ve loved writing this and thinking back along my journey… read it if you like or don’t but I guess if you’ve got this far that means you’ve read it!!!!! 😂 😊 🐎

Roll on next weekend!!!!! 👏

Roll on next weekend!!!!! 👏

Time to meet some of the team...who by this time next week will have ridden their first tests!

First up - one of our Elementary riders Ceri Lazarus Equestrian
"I’ve had the privilege of competing Theo for a year now. His owner, Heidi Chilvers still show jumps and events him which is his passion, although he tolerates circles!
I manage Manor Farm Livery- Marsworth Bucks where Theo is a livery. We competed in the Petplan Winter Areas last year and have now qualified for the 2024 Summer Areas. Our goal is to get to the Winter Regionals……hopefully Theo is on board with this as he can be quite opinionated!"

We can't wait to see this super smart combination in action next weekend! 🐴💃

It’s been a hot one today!!!!! Plenty of hose pipe fun going around 😂

*top tip* When hand grazing, slip the lead rope through the throat lash of the headcollar. This reduces the chances of the horse standing on the rope! 👍🏼
