A bit of fun with the ginger boys today in the wind! Only about 150 posts to search, super independence and commitment in blustery, environmental conditions. One on Kong, the other on clove.

It is so important to work on the foundations to get dogs working with confidence and motivation. There is no reason at all why dogs can’t work independently in trials like SWUK as well as the more detection type search areas. Here is a little girl having a little practice for her upcoming SWUK L1 trial. This little girl started off going around constantly looking for food and crumbs on the floor. Working on the motivation and commitment to search means the handler now able to handle from behind the cones!
Something I am passionate about is independent searching. Independence, confidence and motivation are key foundations. Your job as a handler is then to observe, have they missed searching an area, if so, THEN step in and task.
Is your dog lacking confidence to work away from you independently, has competitions that encourage close handling made your dog more clingy?
I am running some Independent searching workshops through August to help those partnerships that are struggling or just don’t have that foundation yet. 6th and 13th August are current dates, but please let me know if you would like to work on this but these dates don’t work. SCENTENCED - Fun Scentwork search in an old courtroom and prison cell. A space is available at 9.45am on 11th March. Spaces now on the system to book for Friday 31st March.
This is suitable for dogs working on any odour, although timing may need to be adjusted if dog on odour other than clove to allow me to re set.
What looks like a sea of hoops was in fact 3 circles joined up! Bringing big courses back down to training set ups today to really work on the foundations again.

11th March - DDT (Detection Dog Trials) set ups for practice - Novice and Intermediate.
Clove will be the standard odour but any legal odour can be catered for so please message if you want to use another odour. I can then sort times especially if your dog is also imprinted on a different odour.

There is the option to just book with a £10 deposit due to the expense of Xmas etc coming up.
Before I advertise elsewhere does anyone want any agility jumps? 6 pairs of wooden wings (no rot as been dry stored). A couple of the feet just need new plates. There are various plastic poles, 12 cups and a filler. Needs to go as a job lot. Advertising for a friend £100 or offers for it all. Can deliver at cost if local.
