😍 EXCITING ANNOUNCEMENT!😍

The team at KEEP are proud to announce a collaboration with the incredible International Rhino Keepers Association (or IRKA), a non-profit that connections Rhino keepers worldwide. 🦏

Not only are IRKA dedicated to the best possible care for Rhinos in captivity, they are passionate about Keeper development - which is what we are all about, at KEEP!

We look forward to building this collaboration further and seeing what incredible things we can accomplish together, working for both animals and keepers across the world. 🧡

A fantastic opportunity to work with an amazing diversity of bird species including Javan green magpies, Southern Cassowary, Rhinoceros hornbill, Humboldt penguins, Great green macaws and many more!

Learn how their team provide highest standards of husbandry for such a range of species across 2 sections including how to manage large mixed species aviaries!

🥳KEEP GIVEWAWAY SUCCESS🥳

3/4 of the KEEP team assembled at Chester Zoo this week for the 3rd International Sloth Symposium! For those of you who may remember the generosity of the wonderful organising team who kindly donated a free ticket for a give away to a KEEP member!

The lucky winner was Helena from Newquay Zoo! Helena has recently started working with sloths and so was excited to get the chance to learn all things sloths from local and international experts in these cryptic animals!

Helena said:
"As someone who is still new to sloth keeping , this conference was a great opportunity to learn more about these fascinating animals. I am grateful to all the team who organised the sloth conference and to everyone at KEEP for gifting me a ticket to this great conference! I learnt so many aspects of sloth keeping and I met some great sloth-minded people too!"

We were delighted to provide this CPD opportunity which Helena clearly valued and can't wait to offer more keeper CPD moving forward - so please keep your eyes peeled for more!

🥳KEEP PLACEMENT SUCCESS🥳 - MILESTONE!!
Our first ever placement outside of the UK! 🇫🇷

Lauren from Edinburgh Zoo participated in an exchange with the hoof-stock team at Parc de Branféré in France!
Lauren said: "It was amazing! I learned so much from the Parc de Branféré team! I got to do so much and got to see so many things, plenty of which that I can take back to the team at Edinburgh!"

Thanks to Lauren for taking part and supporting KEEP and thanks to Parc de Branféré for being fantastic hosts and making our first international placement a success!

We collectively hope that this is the first of many...

ZSL London Zoo is offering an exciting 3 day placement with their flying birds and penguin team!
The successful candidate will be working alongside the keepers and will ger to experience working with penguins, birds of prey, parrots, vultures, emus and small mammals.

You will also get to participate in training the animals for their free flight displays!

😁Appreciation Post 😁

Birdworld Surrey kindly opened their doors to allow keepers across the UK to take part in their annual catch-up for their Penguins. Several keepers joined their team in learning valuable skills when it comes to penguin husbandry.

We are so grateful to collections increasing the knowledge and skills of keepers not just at their own collection but from others as well. Thank you to all the staff at BirdWorld for this opportunity!

The wonderful people from the International sloth symposium/Science of Sloths have kindly donated a free ticket to attend the 3rd International Sloth Symposium at Chester Zoo this autumn!

Sloth experts from around the world are descending on Chester Zoo to discuss all sort of sloth subjects from nutrition to enclosure design and much more!

The symposium will be taking place between the 23rd and 24th of October 2024 and is very popular so this is not to be missed!

KEEP are excited to announce our first ever KEEP placement in mainland Europe!! 🇫🇷

Parc de Branféré (France!) is offering an amazing 3 day placement with their okapi and primate section! A fantastic opportunity to work with their hoofstock and primate species including okapi, pygmy hippo, variegated spider monkeys and howler monkeys!

Experience hands-on care with a diverse range of incredible animals while working alongside a highly skilled and collaborative team to learn how the Parc de Branféré team care for this fantastic array of animals.

To get the chance to work with these fantastic animals whilst working with their dedicated and experienced keepers, register with us and get your application in.
To help with attendance, team KEEP are excited to be able to offer a £50 stipend towards the transport cost of the successful candidate! More info on travel to Parc de Branféré is available on request - and accommodation is free!
