Evening all ,
Today is a sad day for many reasons , another no show again despite my continued attempts to say its damaging my business .

I had to make a decision last week to contact an agency to do some work outside of Scrubbles because we are haemorrhaging money due to the amount of no shows and rising costs not being able to support the family .

The agency phoned me this morning and let me know my actual start date is this Thursday for training and I can work full time . I was under the illusion i was going to start work next month after my DBS was completed . Its not financial sense to work 2 jobs as i would be paying the tax man even more money which puts me back at square one .

So its with much sadness that Scrubbles is CLOSING it doors after 4 yrs . Im going to be earning more money working 4 days as agency staff at treliske serving food to patients than running Scrubbles, It’s crazy isn’t it ! I'm still unable to get my head around that .

I don’t know what to say, I knew this day could be looming with the increased costs rising so fast and the sheer amount of no shows we’ve had , but i am so ever grateful that I have been able to meet you all.

I have very much loved looking after all your precious pooches and i am very much going to miss all those kisses and cuddles, the support, love, smiley faces and chit chats.

Thank you to each and everyone one of you personally with a huge hug and love for making Scrubbles what it was.
Everyone who has paid a deposit i have personally text you with the arrangements/ refunds.

Everyone who has grooms booked you will get a text today / tomorrow with a breakdown of what is going to happen.

I’m so sorry to you all it wasn’t the way i wanted to go , I’m still going to finish my holistic diploma and i’m always contactable if you need help .

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT...PLEASE
READ 👀

AS OF FRIDAY JUNE 2nd 2023

All customers will have to pay 50% of their basic grooming fee to book an appointment. Any remaining , extras and matting fees will be paid after completion of the groomimg appointment.

If any customer has to cancel their groom and gives

Up to 48hrs notice will get 100% of their deposit back and we will try and reschdule their appointment.

With 47-24hrs notice they will forfit their deposit which is 50% of the groom unless i can fill the space .

Under 24hrs notice you will loose the deposit and be liable for the
remaining balance of the groom.

Im not a harsh lady and know life happens and ive let no show fees slide and matting fees slide im the worst person to enforce it ! Comes a time
Though when I have to ask why is my business suffering ? Because i didnt value my worth as a professional i do more than just shave a dog !
So its about time to act professional in a business sense and start charging my worth to make sure my business is still here next year and the year after .

MATTING CHARGES

If your pup has matts one or two small
Matts and are easy to remove i dont charge the odd one and i mean little not golf balls size
i have to shave out i dont charge .

If your pup has matts in lots of places and i mean matts in chest from harness, legs , feet, especially toes , face , bum , tail, tuck up area, neck, golf balls around the ears then you will be charged the matting fee of £10.

If your pup comes and is severely matted as in i have to sheer a sheep type matting then £15 will be charged .

If your pup comes in with behavourial issues then we will help design appoinments to suit with extra time or resources needed to help make the grooming experience less stressful but if your dog needs extra time you will be charged for this.

PUPPY TRIMS

I will no longer be doing puppy trims on any puppy who hasnt been through a thorough puppy desensitisation package.
If your puppy gets to stage 3 of a package and is still showing signs of caution then we repeat steps until pup is happy im no longer going to push a puppy because the owner chooses asthetics over behaviour .
If your puppy comes in and has to be shaved out of welfare then pup will come back to us for desensitisation package if your pup shows extreme anxiety or fear then we will reconmend pup has a vet clip off .

All clients are encouraged to bring in their pups favourite high value treats with them and their favourite toys if they wish too . Even their bed if it makes your pup happy .
I do have a range of treats on hand if you forget .

Im so very proud of this young lady, she is a nervous little bean who trembles
Coming into the salon and doesnt particularly like the grooming process. She isnt interested with food or toys so we had to think again how we could make her feel better .

Today we tried a different approach she had her 10 minutes mooch around before a nice warm gentle bath thorough dry with an aquazorb before being allowed to have another 5 minute skip around the salon with dry towels and noodle mats to have a rub around on . The grooming table was lowered to the floor and i sat patiently waiting for this young lady to come and join me to be dried on her own terms which she did . Everytime she felt she needed a break off she got had a shake walk around and then hopped back up on the table again sitting quietly while i dried . She hopped on and off 3 times but she was still dried within a normal time frame of maybe 5 mins extra but she was dried with no trembling like normal . After drying she was again given the opportunity to have 5 mins to have some water sit and watch the birds before jumping back up on the table to be clipped after every hard stage or showing she was uncomfortable down she went to give her the time needed to adjust .

Yes i was over by 15 minutes to where i wanted to be and work still needs to be done to areas like her head 🙃 but knkw what this little lady came and gave me a hug of her own free will because i listened and took the groom slower to help her feel better and that my lovely friends is why i decided to groom holistically .
Managing expectations of owners guardians pet parents, that nervous, shy, timid, over excitable,
Anxious, agressive dogs need more time, and cannot be pushed through processes of grooms to make them look good , rather than build a trust that someone is listening to a dogs
needs.🐾💕🐾

At the end of the day we all want a happy pooch x

So many of you know i set up scrubbles to be a cage free salon giving dogs the extra time and space needed to be groomed only using all natural vegan creulty free top quality products .
That i am also reiki level 1 trained .

Over easter i decided that a few more changes were needed to push our lovely ethos of grooming forward .

So i am proud to say im going back to study with the holistic acadamy studying

The Accredited holistic grooming and behaviour diploma .

Im still in the salon working tuesday -friday
9am - 5pm phones on till 6pm any messages after will be picked up the next working day.

Also good news scrubbles will be offering teeth cleaning im awaiting my training and to finish my refresher first aid course and i will be up and running the emmi pet teeth cleaning service . New posts for this to follow shortly.

In September i also will be finishing my reiki level 2 course and applying all my new skills in the salon .

I know lots is happening for the better with our movement forward for scrubbles but i just want to say a massive thank you to you all for your continued support here

I will send texts out to everyone who has an appointment in April and then May .
Unfortunately if we dont increase our prices we wont have a business to run with our incressed overheads .

We increased £2.50 last year so £3 this year with the spiraling fuel cost i think is understandable .

If your struggling then please reach out to me we can extend the length of the groom by going shorter on the coat . Please bear in mind though if your pup comes in severly matted and needs a
Coat re set then their will still be the £10 matting charge .
Ive been very leniant on this in the past but am having to make a stand and say now, if your dog has matting and its brushable with in 20 mins then a £5 charge will be added . If its more then £10 will be added .

Blades are £30-£45 each when i have blades & scissors sharpened its £7- £13 each without postage being added on . When i have to clip off a matted
Coat i have to send my blades to be sharpened more often as a matted coat blunts the blade quicker.
When im clipping im using 2 /3 blades in that groom. This is why a matting charge is in place to help with the cost of sharpening and replacing blades when they cannot be sharpened anymore.

Im always here for help and advice with no judgement i can always re show
Any of my clients how to brush and manage their pups coats .

Have had the most amazing birthday today aromatherapy massage , reflexology treatment , turtles , road runners, monkeys , donkeys you name it ive seen it today with some time relaxing on the beach .

Thank you for all your messages I’m back home tonight take 2 ….Following emergency surgery Monday night due to one of my incision sites bursting open with infection . It’s all been washed out and left open to drain , lots of rest and antibiotics and I will be good as new 👌 .
It might be a few days before I can answer all the questions 🐾
