A few weeks ago we had a visit from a very cute duo! These little piggies visited one of our lovely Veterinary Surgeons for a consultation and treatment, as well as being checked over by Veterinary Nurse Rhian. Guinea pigs are a prey animal meaning they can feel frightened in a new environment. We helped these little fellas feel comfortable by examining them while in their transport box with their own smells and each others company πŸ’š

Meet Ember πŸ’š
This lovely girl came into the practice for a ovariohysterectomy (spay) and microchip last week. Here she is showing off her pretty pink recovery suit.
Spaying your female cat is a preventative surgical procedure which stops the possibility of her breeding and having kittens.
It is now a legal requirement that all cats are microchipped by the time they are 20 weeks old. Microchipping your cat is a important procedure, where a small chip around the size of a grain of rise is inserted under the skin. This can be scanned to find the owners details. This has many benefits, one of the most important is helping lost cats be reunited with their owners. 🐱

Its New Years Eve!
This can be and exciting time, however some of our pets are troubled by the Fireworks πŸ’₯πŸŽ†
Here are some tips to help your pet feel safe on New Years EveπŸ’š

We often have lots of Christmas treats around the house during this time of the festive period πŸ«πŸŽπŸŽ„
We wanted to give you a little reminder of the safety precautions you should take with your pets and make sure you do not feed them any Christmas food πŸ’š
πŸ₯§ Anything that contains grapes or raisins is toxic. Keep your pet away from the Christmas pudding and mince pies!
🌰 Whether raw or baked, macadamia nuts are dangerous when ingested.
πŸ₯‚ Our pets don’t process alcohol the same way we do, meaning that even small amounts can be dangerous. Clean up spills as soon as they happen, and clear cups away as soon as you can.
🦴 Cooked bones are fragile, and bone splinters can injure your pet’s stomach. Never feed your pets meat on the bone.
🍫 Chocolate is toxic to pets! Be careful to lock it away out of reach, and teach children not to share chocolate treats with their furry friends.
By keeping these things in mind, you can enjoy the festivities while keeping your pets safe.
We’re always here to help you and your pet. In case of emergency, call us directly on 01872 273408.

Its the weekend before Christmas! Bilbo is enjoying helping (he thinks) his mum wrap the presents today... are you getting ready for Christmas? πŸŽ„πŸŽ
Cats can really enjoy playing with ribbons and string which you may have around when wrapping the presents- please take care and do not leave them unattended as they can cause harm if ingested by your pet. πŸ’š
