Feed for fitness and muscle ๐Ÿ’ช correct proportions of protein and fats; high fibre is a given for all horses

This narrative is incredibly damaging to the equine industry.

We MUST get away from the fallacy that skinny is fit.
That certain breeds get a pass for their body condition because we have normalized musculoskeletal dysfunction among them.

Skinny is not fit.
Under muscled is not fit.
Proper muscle development is IMPERATIVE, especially for horses in ridden work.

Until we as an industry get on the same page about what proper muscle development is and isn't- injury and band aid solutions will remain profuse.

Very worthwhile!

Missed out on Black Friday deals? Stringer Equine Veterinary Surgeons bring you (and your Farrier) 'Foot Balance Friday' throughout December! Speak to your farrier, and give our office a call on 01647 231246 if you want to book in.

We've all heard 'no foot no horse', but the equine hoof is a complex thing, and the external appearance does not always reflect the condition of the internal structures. This is where foot balance radiographs can be really useful, allowing your horses farrier to compare what they can see on the outside to X-ray images and adapt their trimming accordingly, if indicated, to support a healthy hoof and comfortable horse ๐Ÿด

If your farrier or trimmer has ever suggested foot balance x-rays would be of benefit to your horse now is the time to get them taken. Images will be sent to your farrier and a conversation between vet and farrier to discuss the images taken is always possible.

Trot poles encourage your horse to push equally from behind, and are an excellent exercise for developing an equal stride length and for improving symmetry, straightness and coordination.

To negotiate trot poles sucessfully requires increased momentum, flexion of all the limb joints, power and spring.
