CVETS Out of hours emergency small animal vet practice providing cover for local practices & holidaymakers
(56)

All veterinary practices are obliged to provide an out of hours emergency service for their patients. Until relatively recently, this would be provided by the vets in the practice. Unfortunately it didn't involve shift work: the vet who was working during the day would then be on call that night but would also be back at work the next day. Busy nights could mean little or no sleep so not surprisin

gly you didn't function very well the following day. This might have been acceptable 20 or 30 years ago but today's demanding medical and surgical standards require sharper body and brain function. The ideal would be for each practice to employ dedicated out-of- hours staff but this is prohibitively expensive for all but very large multivet practices. In the past few years we have seen the emergence of dedicated out of hours veterinary clinics which provide emergency cover for a group of participating practices. Cornwall Veterinary Emergency Treatment Services (CVETS) is an organisation dedicated to the provision of out of hours emergency care for veterinary practices. We have an extremely well equipped practice and employ staff who have a particular interest in emergency medicine and surgery. CVETS liases closely with your user practices and aims to reunite pet and practice as soon as possible if there is a need to be seen. Our standard fees to be seen for patients of subscriber practices are
Β£150.00 before 11pm
Β£190.00 after 11pm
These prices include our consultation fee and VAT but not the cost of any treatment or tests required.

APPEAL | Police are appealing for information after a goose died following an incident in Perranporth.

The incident took place on Tuesday 30 July at around 6.30pm at Perranporth Boating Lake and Gardens on Boscawen Road.

It has been reported that a group of four teenage boys were seen to encourage the geese from the lake before one of the boys threw a rock on two occasions, hitting the animal and causing it to fall to the ground.

A member of the public took the goose to the vets, where it died that night.

The group are believed to be aged between 12-15. One boy was wearing an orange t-shirt and a black and white patterned bucket style hat, one wore a pink top and red shorts, another wore a black top, the other had a white top.

Officers are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident and anyone with information which may assist our enquiries to report it to police.

You can report information via our website or by calling 101 quoting reference 50240190989.

Meet Pluto ❣️ Pluto decided to tuck into the compost heap which contained mouldy food. Mycotoxins are produced by certain types of mould and are extremely toxic to dogs.
When Pluto arrived he was very poorly and having seizures, he did give us all quite a scare as he needed to have medication for almost three days to stop his seizures. But thankfully Pluto made a great recovery and eventually went home wondering what all the fuss was about and it certainly didn't put him off his food!
We all fell in love with Pluto and was so pleased he made such a good recovery 🐾

Kitten curiosity led to poor Tiggy requiring emergency surgery today after getting a huge fishing hook stuck in his leg.
Due to the hook being barbed we were unable to just pull the hook out so Tiggy received an anaesthetic so that we could surgically release the barb from the muscles in his leg and remove this very large hook.

We sadly had an adult black and white MN cat bought into us at 4am this morning having likely been hit by a car.
He was found in the Troon area on fore street near the Grenville arms.
Unfortunately due to the severity of his injuries he was put to sleep but we would like his owners to have the chance to say goodbye if they wish.
