Meet the lovely Obi 🥰

Obi was feeling a bit cheeky and raided his mum’s rucksack while she was out and ate a packet of chewing gum. When Obis family realised they were quick to read the ingredients and call us straight away. The chewing gum contained xylitol which can be extremely toxic to dogs. We managed to make Obi sick and after a few hours of monitoring he was able to go home 😀

☣️⚠️ XYLITOL ⚠️☣️ lowers the blood sugar in dogs which can cause:
•Vomiting
•Weakness
•Lack of coordination or difficulty walking or standing
•Weakness/sluggishness or lethargy
•Tremors
•Seizures
•Coma

If you believe your dog has eaten xylitol please call us straight away

Please be aware we are open for EMERGENCIES only.

We are open as normal tomorrow form 8.30-4pm

Then again for EMERGENCIES only on Easter Monday.

ST AGNES VETS CLOSURE

Due to end of term on the lease we have made the difficult decision to close our st agnes branch from the 1st of March.

However due to recent renovations in our Perranporth branch we can offer a more comprehensive package of care.

We understand that this may be upsetting for some of our clients, but we hope you can understand this hard decision.

We are currently trying to organise an ‘open’ evening In perranporth so you can all come and have a look around. We will update you on this when we have something in place.

Thank you for your understanding.

Recently we had a dog in who’d stolen a chicken carcass out of the bin and eaten it. Her owner noted that she then went on to seem unwell and her breathing sounded noisy. We could feel a swelling around her throat so decided to take a X-ray!

We weren’t expecting to find the perfectly intact ‘wishbone’ from the chicken carcass wedged across her oesophagus!

Luckily it was removed with no further trauma and she has recovered well!

💉 Vaccines 💉

Are your dogs vaccines up to date?

We are seeing an increasing number of leptospirosis cases at the moment which unfortunately a lot of the time can be fatal.

Yearly vaccinations are minimally invasive and can help to reduce the chance of your dog catching not only leptospirosis but also distemper, hepatitis and parvovirus.

Titre tests for distemper, hepatitis and parvovirus are available and can be organised.

Please contact the practice or give us a message to check your dogs vaccine history.
