Happy New Year to all my lovely customers and followers!
So now. The cattery won't be taking anymore bookings as it is now officially closed. As I attempt to sell the house, I hope with all my heart that someone lovely wants to reopen the cattery and continue looking after your beautiful, gorgeous cats. Lucky them!
Let's all hope for a brighter, more peaceful and content 2024.
I'll keep you updated on progress of the sale here.
Thank you for ALL for your kind and generous words of support. Its been a really tough year but you've helped me get through it and come out the otherside.
Onwards and upwards!

This is Findlay.

Findlay has been a regular at the cattery over the past year. Unfortunately he was diagnosed with having diabetes last year and was having to have twice daily insulin injections. He had, however, become somewhat of a firm favourite at the cattery; known for his extremely "chatty" ๐Ÿ™‰๐Ÿ˜† character and cheeky attempts at making a dash for it out of his pen to steal other cats' food at feeding time! Unfortunately, it had been difficult for the vets to get the right dosage of insulin for him as his levels were always fluctuating, so the poor lad, who was only nine, wasn't in the best of health, despite his big personality!
Two months ago his owner Helen called me to let me know the worrying news that Findlay had gone missing. He wasn't one for wondering off, so she was very concerned. Helen and her husband looked far and wide for him but there was no sign of him anywhere.
Sadly it is not uncommon for cats who are very unwell to take themselves off to die somewhere quiet and alone. Obviously this is awful for any owner to contemplate, but after a few weeks Helen and her husband had to face the awful fact that this was probably what had happened to their gorgeous boy. It was completely heartbreaking for everyone, including myself, as I had become incredibly attached to him.
Findlay had been due to come and stay with me this Christmas and I am heartbroken that this sassy cat won't be around to shout at me again. He really had a knack of getting under your skin and into your heart...๐Ÿ’”....
..I was just thinking about all this this evening, as he had been due to arrive at the cattery today, when a car pulled up and Helen and her husband got out... with news... Findlay had been found! Alive!! A very kind man had found him collapsed in the middle of a road, about half a mile from where Findlay lived and taken him to Deveron Vets in Turriff. He was scanned for a microchip and the contact number was called. Helen and her husband couldn't quite believe it - neither could I! We're all in total shock, as you can imagine!
Talk about a *Christmas Miracle* And so here is young Findlay - photo just taken - very thin, but otherwise in good voice, having just arrived at the cattery for his Christmas holiday! I am literally shaking with joy and with a large dollop of disbelief! He had been missing for two months and without his insulin shots.
And the moral of this Christmas Tale/Tail? - Never EVER give up hope. ๐Ÿ˜Š

From Lesley

Hi, I just wonder if anyone is missing this cat?
He seems to love hanging out in our wee shed in garden at all hours, which is no problem, but would hate to think someone looking for him/her in Turriff

New Arc Wildlife Rescue is a Scottish registered charity (SC 037332), and the only licensed wildlife rescue and rehabilitation centre in the North-East. Specialising in the rescue and rehabilitation of native Scottish wildlife we rescue over 1500 animals per year.
We are open 7 days per week, 365 days per year and are available for emergencies 24 hours a day.

If you find an injured or unwell wild animal, or have a wildlife health related query then please call New Arc Wildlife Rescue on 01358701723 for advice.
Please do not take the animal home and attempt to care for it yourself, this not only risks the welfare of the animal but it puts yourself and your pets at risk and reduces the chances of a successful release for the animal.

We have seen an unfortunate increase in people taking days to call us about wildlife casualties, or taking them home and attempting to care for them themselves. Often resulting in poor outcomes for the casualty.

Please do not delay calling if you find an injured or unwell wild animal, every minute that passes reduces the chances of a positive outcome for the animal

~CLOSURE UPDATE~
Hi Everyone.
A quick update on the latest situation with the cattery. As yet, I haven't had any enquiries about the property but apparently it is always quiet this time of year ๐Ÿ˜ž
I have decided to close the cattery after the New Year and not renew my license with the council or my insurance so that I can concentrate on getting the place sold.
If, however, there isn't any apparent interest in January and February, I will seriously consider renewing the license and insurance, and reopening in time for Spring and the Easter holidays (as basically I need an income!).
For those of you who have booked well into 2024 already, I will be in contact with you individually in January.
In the meantime, I hope you all have a super Christmas and Hogmanay.
I can only apologise if this plan causes you any inconvenience.
Kindest regards and purrs
Belinda
