Today we picked up this little guy from a lovely lady who had him abandoned in her garden for 24 hours, she had been trying to get help for him since Monday!! On Monday I gave her various phone numbers for local wildlife rescue services all of which failed this little life for one reason or another 😡
The hero of this story is really the lady who found the cub crying down her garden and eventually took him in and although feeding it completely the wrong thing (cows milk and cat food) almost certainly saved his life.
Now I fully understand that rescue centres have to have rules BUT a bit of flexibility and some better training for those answering their phones would be essential in my world. A massive thanks to Sue at Essex wildlife for agreeing to help the little soul and step up where other fell short 🥰
Finally for those reading this who do answer phones and give the public wildlife advice “ VIXENS DO NOT ABANDON CUBS IF TOUCHED BY HUMAN HANDS”, if you’re going to give advice please make sure you actually know what you’re talking about 🦊🦊
