🐾 A Heartfelt Thank You & Temporary Goodbye 🐾

To all my wonderful clients,

I can’t express enough how grateful I am for the support, trust, and love you’ve shown me since I opened my pet-sitting and dog walking business in January. It’s been an incredible journey getting to know your fur babies, and I’ve loved every moment spent with them!

As many of you know, I’ll be taking some time off for maternity leave. This is an exciting time for my family, and while I will miss my walks and cuddle sessions with your pets, I am looking forward to this new chapter.

I plan to return in 2025 and will keep you all updated as that time approaches. In the meantime, I want to thank each and every one of you for your continued support. Your pets mean the world to me, and I am honoured to have been a part of their lives. Hopefully, I will have some time to post a few snaps of some of my very best clients over the next few months!

At the tender age of 2.5, Delilah has earned herself the playful nickname "the reaper" for her quirky talent of bringing in interesting (albeit slightly icky) treasures from the great outdoors.

Delilah, unlike her siblings, has a subtle mystique about her. Despite being the smallest in the crew, she boasts a personality as vast as the night sky. 🌌 One might even say she's the mystery cat of Tywyn Tails!

Now, onto Delilah's unique quirks. This dainty feline has discerning taste buds that rival a gourmet chef, making mealtime a carefully curated affair. 🍽️ Approach her with caution, though, as she may give you the cold shoulder unless she's explicitly called you for her undivided attention – she's quite the master of feline summons!

Mickey may be 7 years old, but he's got the sass of a bunny half his age. 🎂 His favourite hobby? Proving that grumpiness has no age limit! 😠 Yet, beneath that tough exterior is a heart of gold, especially when it comes to his one true love - broccoli! 🥦❤️

When Mickey's not munching on his beloved broccoli, you can find him in his fluffy fortress, plotting world domination or maybe just a particularly epic nap. 😴✨ His stubbornness is matched only by his cuteness - a perfect balance that keeps us all on our toes and endlessly entertained!

Hi there, pet-loving friends! I'm Katie, a dog enthusiast, proud Tywyn resident for over 3 years, and the proud paw parent to Nellie, a delightful Viszla x Weimaraner. She might be a bit crazy, but she's the absolute light of our lives!

In our cosy home, there is me, my fiance and our lively bunch including three sassy cats who believe in the art of gift-giving (especially in the form of "presenting" us with various wildlife treasures). And let's not forget our indoor rabbit – a bit of a grumpy old man, but he's got a heart of gold.

Why am I stepping into the world of dog walking and pet sitting? Well, it's simple – I absolutely adore animals! There's something magical about spending time with our furry friends, and I've found it to be the best way to fill my days with joy.

But here's the thing: I'm not just your average pet lover. I'm fully insured, so you can have peace of mind knowing that your beloved fur babies are in safe hands. On top of that, I'm qualified in pet first aid and CPR, ensuring that I'm prepared for any unexpected situations that might arise.

While Tywyn and the surrounding areas boast incredible pets, I noticed a little gap. We definitely have quality pet sitters and dog walkers locally, but we only have a few and more than enough pets that need walking and taking care of. That's where I come in, ready to shower your pets with love, attention, and the care they deserve.

I'm not just here to walk dogs or feed your feline friends; I'm here to be a part of your extended pet-loving family. From energetic walks to cosy cuddle sessions, I'm committed to ensuring your pets receive the best care.

Ethylene glycol is a common substance used in most antifreeze solutions which may be added to:

❄️Car engines
❄️Snow globes
❄️Water features
❄️Radiators

🐈‍⬛Unfortunately, ethylene glycol is highly toxic to cats (even in very small doses) and spillages can be easily lapped up from the floor or groomed off of a cat's soiled paws or coat.

🏠Leakeages in garages, sheds, driveways or even inside the home are easy to miss. Antifreeze is often clear, but may be coloured green or other colours.

🐈‍⬛Antifreeze tastes sweet and although cats cannot taste sweet flavours, they seem to be attracted to the flavour of antifreeze.

⚠️Ethylene glycol toxicity is incredibly dangerous and often fatal in cats. Treatment needs to occur immediately and no later than 3 hours after ingestion if any sort of recovery is to be made, otherwise euthanasia is usually the kindest option.

Signs of ethylene glycol toxicity include:

▪️Vomiting
▪️Lethargy
▪️Depression
▪️Ataxia (wobbly, abnormal gait)
▪️Increased thirst and urination
▪️Increased heart and respiratory rate

🩺Vets may treat affected cats with aggressive intravenous fluid therapy, fomepizole or ethanol, but treatment needs to start quickly for the cat to recover. Emergency veterinary treatment, hospitalisation and intensive nursing care is always required.

😿Eventually, untreated cats develop serious and life threatening issues such as metabolic acidosis and kidney failure, by which time they are highly unlikely to recover.

😿Evidence of calcium oxalate crystals present in the cat's urine and a cessation of urine production paired with significant renal damage indicate a grave prognosis.

⚠️If you suspect your cat may have ingested antifreeze, even if you are not sure it's best to contact your veterinary practice IMMEDIATELY. Time really is of the essence in these cases, so it's always best to be sure. Your veterinary team will advise you, so just ask and they will be happy to help.
