Keep your pets safe this Valentine's Day! ♥️

Here are some common Valentine’s Day hazards to watch out for:

🍫 Chocolate – Toxic to dogs & cats, even small amounts can be dangerous!
🌷 Flowers – Lilies are toxic to cats, and many other flowers can be harmful to pets.
🍬 Xylitol – Found in sugar-free sweets & gum, it can cause life-threatening low blood sugar in dogs.
🕯️ Candles – Curious pets + open flames = disaster waiting to happen!
🎀 Decorations – Ribbons & balloons can cause choking or blockages if swallowed.

Keep the romance pet-friendly by securing these items out of reach! 🐾

Did you know we offer weight management clinics with our vet nurses? 🐶

New Year is the perfect time to get on top of your pets weight, lets set the resolutions for them as well as us!

If you are concerned about your pets weight then you will be pleased to learn that we provide weight clinics with our vet nurses.

Why is it important to keep on top of our pets weight? Obesity can lead to secondary conditions such as heart, respiratory and joint issues along with a shortened life expectancy so it’s important to keep our pets fit and healthy.
At a weight clinic our nurses can assess and advise on weight, body condition, diet, exercise, lifestyle and obesity prevention. 🐕‍🦺

🐾 Can Dogs and Cats Really Be Friends? 🐱🐕 Absolutely! 🐾

It may seem like cats and dogs are natural enemies, but with a little patience and the right approach, they can become the best of friends! 🧡 Here’s how to help them get along:

Slow Introductions: Start with gradual, supervised introductions. Allow them to get used to each other’s scents before face-to-face meetings.

Positive Associations: Reward good behavior with treats and praise when they’re calm around each other. This helps them associate good things with their new sibling!

Personal Space: Ensure each pet has their own space to retreat to when they need a break. Cats especially love high perches where they feel safe.

Be Patient: It may take some time, but with consistency, your dog and cat can learn to co-exist—and maybe even nap together! 💤

While we humans enjoy the celebrations, New Year’s Eve can be a stressful and dangerous time for our furry friends. Here are some key tips to help keep your pets safe and comfortable as we ring in 2024:

🚨 Firework Safety: The loud bangs and bright lights can be overwhelming for pets. Create a quiet, secure space indoors where they feel safe.

🍫 Food Hazards: Watch out for party snacks! Chocolate, alcohol, and other festive treats can be toxic to pets. Keep them out of reach.

🕯️ Decor Dangers: Candles and decorations can pose a risk if curious paws or noses get too close. Supervise your pets around these items.

📴 ID Tags and Microchips: Make sure your pet’s ID is up-to-date in case they get frightened and run away.

Let’s start the New Year with happy, healthy pets! If you have any concerns about your furry friend, don’t hesitate to contact us. 💙🐾
