Clever K9’s Door Etiquette
After building up these dogs resilience to a gate (door) being moved, opened and seeing a human the other side, the final result was that both dogs stayed in a sit stay position while an assistant was able to open the gate, walk through the gate, say hello to the owner, turn around and walk back out again. Well done to Mable & Fawkes, you were fantastic. Please zoom into the video to see how well both dogs performed.

In our training classes, I talk about dogs chewing to help calm and relax them…
Around this time most evenings, our youngest Staffy, Oakley, will go out into the kitchen and rummage through his toy box to find his chosen chew for the night; tonight he has opted for a cows hoof!
Oakley will generally have a 10-20 minute chew while laying on the lounge rug, then he will take himself off to lay on my pillow until I go to bed - this boy is a real creature of habit!!!
Mo, on the other hand, will loiter around until he leaves the hoof and then she will lay-down for her nightly chew!!

When a client sends you a video saying ‘Sorry I had to send it to you…we finally got lay!’

Yesterdays Marvellous Mutts class where we were talking about loose lead walking and recall.
While I was explaining what we were teaching and why, each dog was given a treat filled toilet roll to keep them busy while I was talking.
I think the dogs here happy for me to keep on chatting.
I do love a bit of mental stimulation. 🐾🐾🐕🦺🐕🦺🐕🐕🐶🐶
Today our puppies were being taught recall, where the puppy owners were positively encouraged to be super excitable 😂😂
As you will see from the video, the puppies (and their owners) excelled themselves in this exercise.

Here is Ziggy during a Clever K9’s class practicing a settle in a mock setting of a cafe. His owner made lots of noises and Ziggy stayed settled. Such a clever boy.

Today in our Pawsome Puppy class, these clever pooches started to learn an emergency ‘Stop’ didn’t they do well. 👏🏻👏🏻🐾🐶🐶
Toby learning an ‘Emergency Stop’ he picked it up so quickly, and was not too distracted when the other dog Chester became a distraction. Well done Toby👏🏻👏🏻.

What a difference one training session can make!
Sunday was week 7 of our Marvellous Mutts course where owners and dogs were taught ‘To the Fridge!’ which was followed up with ‘Matador’ - a fun game which encourages the dog to get into the correct position for their lead to be attached and to then start their loose lead walking. Luna and Nova were only taught these behaviours for an hour and just look at their progress!! Very well done to both dogs and their owners - I am super proud of you both!!!
