🌟 Happy New Year from Sit n Paws! 🌟

As we welcome 2025, I want to take a moment to wish all my wonderful clients, past and present, a year filled with wagging tails, wet noses, and cherished memories with your furry friends.

2024 has been a year full of incredible doggy milestones, and I’d love to hear from you: what has been your fondest dog moment this past year? Whether it was a new puppy joining your family, mastering a tricky behaviour, or simply sharing those quiet cuddles, I’d love to know!

Looking ahead to 2025, are there any new habits or goals you’d like to work on with your dog? Perhaps it’s more time spent training, exploring new walks, or building an even stronger bond. Let’s make it the best year yet for you and your four-legged companions!

Personally, I plan to spend a little more time training my own dogs this year which I am very much looking forward to.

Drop your favourite memories and goals in the comments below – I can’t wait to hear all about them. Here’s to an amazing 2025! 🎉🐾

Love,
Andi x

P.S. Keep an eye out for some exciting classes, tips, and treats coming your way soon! 💙

Day 12: Children's Toys Are Not for Dogs! 🧸❌
Christmas morning often means toys everywhere, but small parts, batteries, and plastic pieces can pose a serious danger to dogs if chewed or swallowed. Ingesting plastic or small objects can lead to choking, blockages, or internal injuries. Make sure your children’s new toys are kept out of your dog’s reach, and tidy up any broken parts right away.

22/12/2024

Day 11: Stick to Their Routine 🐕‍🦺
Festivities can disrupt your dog’s regular schedule, which might stress them out. Stick to their usual walking, feeding, and play routines as much as possible to help them feel secure and happy. Regular exercise can also help burn off extra energy from all the excitement.

21/12/2024

Day 10: Keep an Eye on Alcohol 🍷
Dogs are curious and may try to sample unattended alcoholic drinks. Even small amounts of alcohol can be toxic to them. Keep glasses and bottles in a safe spot to prevent accidental ingestion.

20/12/2024

Day 9: Mind the Leftovers 🍗
Holiday leftovers like turkey bones, fatty scraps, and gravy can spell trouble for your dog. Bones can splinter, and rich foods can cause stomach issues or pancreatitis. Make sure all leftovers are disposed of safely and kept well out of your dog’s reach.

19/12/2024

Day 8: Be Ready for Visitors 🚪
Does your dog get anxious or overexcited when guests arrive? If they’re a NURBS dog (Nervous, Unsettled, Reactive, Barky, or Scared), plan ahead. Use baby gates or create a calm, secure space where they can retreat. You could also give them a long-lasting chew to keep them occupied during the commotion.

18/12/2024

Day 7: Toxic Plants Alert 🌿
Mistletoe, holly, poinsettias, and even ivy are toxic to dogs if eaten. If you can’t resist including them in your décor, place them somewhere your dog cannot reach or consider using pet-safe artificial alternatives.

17/12/2024

Day 6: Food Presents Under the Tree? Think Again! 🎁🍫
Leaving wrapped food presents under the tree might seem festive, but your dog’s incredible sense of smell means they’ll likely sniff them out. This could lead to unwrapping disasters or even ingesting toxic treats. Keep food gifts well out of reach.

16/12/2024

Day 5: Dangerous Decorations 🌟
Baubles and ornaments may look like toys to your dog, but they can shatter or be swallowed, causing injury. Opt for shatterproof decorations and hang them higher on the tree to avoid temptation.

15/12/2024

Day 4: Safe Wrapping Practices 🎁
Festive wrapping paper, ribbons, and bows can be irresistible for dogs, but chewing on them can lead to choking or blockages. After the unwrapping frenzy, clear away all packaging straight away.

14/12/2024

Day 3: Chocolate is NOT for Dogs 🍫
Chocolate is toxic for dogs and even a small amount can make them seriously ill. Keep all chocolate goodies stored high up or use decorations on the tree that your dog can’t reach. A safe pup means a happy Christmas!

13/12/2024

Day 2: No Mince Pies or Pudding! 🍪❌
As festive as they are for us, mince pies and Christmas puddings are dangerous for dogs. They contain raisins, currants, and sultanas, which are highly toxic. Even a small amount can cause kidney failure. Keep these treats far out of reach.

Sit n Paws 12 Days of Christmas Dog Safety Countdown 🎄🐾

Day 1: The Tree is Not a Toy! 🌲
Christmas trees can be a source of fascination for your dog, but they can also be dangerous. Climbing, chewing, or knocking the tree over can lead to accidents. Secure your tree with a sturdy base and consider using a guard to keep your pup at a safe distance. Avoid edible decorations like chocolates or candy canes—they’re a big no-no for dogs.
