• A week of two halves •
Beginning with the disappointment of losing a duck to mr fox 🦊 then having to move and rebuild a run which is now closer to the house.
Ending with me setting up the incubators for 12 more fertilised eggs to make up for losing the one. The maths isn’t great but more ducks is never a bad thing!

• it’s been a while •

Sorry about the delay in posting! It has been busy with harvest, new work and setting up a smallholding. The ducklings you last saw are now nearly fully feathered and thriving. There is another order of fertilised eggs going in soon too! It’s all go here at C&W.

The babies have moved!
This week with the change of the weather, it felt the right time to take the ducklings to their first adult run. Very enclosed and the water is only shallow at the moment but they’re taking it all in their stride so far.
Still have one duckling in for a bit of treatment for a hatch deformity, coming on slowly but the treatment is working.

All systems go here!

• Very late hatch update! •

8 ducklings successfully hatched and 6 eggs still in the incubator to go, which sadly means 4 didn’t make it through the hatch.
These 8 are doing really well. The mix at the moment is 5 cherry valley, 2 welsh harlequin and 1 cayuga! These little cuties are in the house with me for a few more days until the weather settles a little, so plenty of pictures to come.

We will be a little less busy over the weekend so will keep the page updated with any more arrivals 👏🏼

• We have news •

Cluck & Waddle is BACK! This time will be bigger and better than ever. Today was an exciting day, the first fertilised eggs went into the incubator. 👀 watch this space for more updates to come

T minus 11 days until hatch!!! 🐣 The hatchlings are now 2 weeks in to incubation and we have movement! Keep watching to see the duckling kicking its little feet 🥰

• New Home • At C&W we pride ourselves on using recycled materials; this video shows just how an old polytunnel frame, leftover chicken wire and unused batons from a roofing job can be put together quickly (and for little to no cost) to create a sturdy run for the poultry. This run is solid enough and will be reused for the 4+ week old poultry hatch after hatch! 🥰

Lettuce, who knew! The ducklings discovered a new food today and they seemed to enjoy it. These 8 are really growing rapidly now, there are 3 more in the incubator drying off before joining the group. • T minus 10 days • There is incredible movement and development within the eggs, the best sign that everything has been spot on with the incubation! 🤞🏼
