The babies have moved!
This week with the change of the weather, it felt the right time to take the ducklings to their first adult run. Very enclosed and the water is only shallow at the moment but they’re taking it all in their stride so far.
Still have one duckling in for a bit of treatment for a hatch deformity, coming on slowly but the treatment is working.

All systems go here!

• Very late hatch update! •

8 ducklings successfully hatched and 6 eggs still in the incubator to go, which sadly means 4 didn’t make it through the hatch.
These 8 are doing really well. The mix at the moment is 5 cherry valley, 2 welsh harlequin and 1 cayuga! These little cuties are in the house with me for a few more days until the weather settles a little, so plenty of pictures to come.

We will be a little less busy over the weekend so will keep the page updated with any more arrivals 👏🏼

**UPDATE** ducks are sold subject to collection.
Still 2 bantam hens and their cockerel left needing a home

Regrettably cluck and waddle will have to close. Due to having to move the ducks and chickens will not be able to join me.

I have 10 ducks and 1 drake, giving me at least 6 eggs a day. I would ideally like them to be sold as a whole but happy to split as long as a pair or more are bought together. Please contact for breeds and further details.

There is also a trio of bantams that have been in multiple of my pictures before now. These guys have to go a home together.

They are incredibly entertaining birds and absolutely beautiful creatures. It breaks my heart that I cannot take them with me.

Please get in touch if you would be able to rehome some or all of these birds. There will be a small cost per bird, more of a donation than a purchase. I just want to know that they’re going to good homes.

Thank you.

Sadly due to the Avian Flu outbreak Cluck & Waddle are stopping hatching over winter. We are keeping our numbers small, as we are now so that our birds are all kept safe and healthy. Once restrictions lift in the spring (🤞🏼) we will restart breeding.

Thank you all for being wonderful customers this past year. Let’s see where this winter takes us!

Duck eggs are still available as the girls are back at full lay so we are getting 6 eggs a day. Please let us know if you’re interested in ordering any eggs.

I have a range of cockerels for sale at the moment, from bantam to speckled and legbar. Some would be good meat birds and are ready to sell now.

All 7 are beautiful boys and I can send individual photos at request to anyone wanting further details.

I am looking to sell in the next 7-10 days as they need to go before they get too big, therefore they will be sold at a much lower price than usual.

Please get in touch for more information!

The chicks hatched from the abandoned (thanks to Mr fox) nest are growing nicely. They have a larger run now and are definitely filling the space, it’s lovely to watch them develop into such beautiful birds. Currently at almost 8 weeks old, it won’t be long before they head off to their new homes! All 10 of these beauties have homes already which is wonderful.

We do have 6 bantam chicks (half hens, half cockerels) that are looking for homes still so please don’t hesitate to get in touch if you are interested.

Shy little ones

4 out of the 8 eggs hatched successfully. Sadly 2 didn’t make it and 2 didn’t hatch but this is what happens, nothing is guaranteed!

Thankfully the 4 are healthy and have incredible appetites. So please welcome, 3x Cayuga cross (first and fourth photos) and 1x Cayuga (second and third photos). All adorable and all developing characters already.

You will see a lot of these babies over the next few weeks before sale. Please get in contact if you are interested in purchasing these lovely birds.

Apologies for the awful photo but we have some incredibly adorable new friends.
Earlier than expected so they came as a big surprise but we have 2 new hatchlings with another 2 on the way. There are 8 eggs in this hatch and another dozen due in 14 days.

More updates to come once these guys have dried and come out of the incubator.

•Hospital time again•

Sadly this poor girl was attacked by a fox 2 nights ago, it’s a wonder she escaped! She is doing really well and is still very strong but has some pretty severe wounds on her back and belly. Every day is spent checking on her and ensuring that the wounds are clean and treated..

The issue with having tame poultry is that they’re sitting ducks (excuse the pun) for predators as they’re more trusting than their wild counterparts.

Either way, this girly is very very lucky and will be looked after like a queen for the next week or two until she’s ready to go back with her 8 siblings.

Always happy to give advice and help out if any of your feathered friends need medical help. Please feel free to message the page if you need anything as we are happy to share knowledge and teach others how best to care for these complicated creatures.

Moulting time 🪶

The ducks are all in moult at the moment so we are getting fewer eggs that normal. Thankfully there’s a backlog so we are more than able to keep up with the regular orders, however for another few days we may be behind for newer customers.

Poor girls look a bit shabby and my garden looks like someone has plucked them. So many feathers everywhere! To keep them entertained, I’m buying lettuces by the dozen. They’re an absolute favourite of both the ducks and chickens (I’m sure you can hear the cockerel in the background).

It’s absolute carnage at feeding time right now. These 10 cuties are growing like weeds. All 10 have pre-sold too which is great news!

I just love to watch these guys as they’re very entertaining at this age, only just learning that the world is a bigger place. Once the chance of rain drops I will be taking them outside for their first trip. Stay tuned for videos!

Sadly we lost one of the brooding hens to a fox last week. She was taken 2 days before the eggs were due to hatch. Since the incubator was running we popped them in hoping for the best that they had survived, but not knowing how long she had been gone and they had been cold.

Surprisingly, 32 hours later there was 4 pipped eggs! 24 hours after initial pips, 10 of 10 chicks had hatched!!! Very successful if I do say so myself 🎉

Watch this space for more updates on how these beauties grow.

Sorry to all those who missed out on the ducklings for sale yesterday.

If anyone is interested, I am setting up the incubator to run the next hatch of ducklings. These will be Cayuga x Pekin, Cayuga x Khaki Campbell and full Cayuga. If you are interested in buying some ducklings they will be ready in 8 weeks from now. They take 28 days to hatch and I will be able to sell the ducklings from 4 weeks of age onwards, although I am more than happy to hold on to them for longer if that is of preference.

I will be incubating a full 30 eggs so 🤞🏼 should have plenty for sale. Watch this space in 4 weeks to see how many hatch!

Through no fault of their own, these beautiful birds need rehoming.

4 hens and 1 drake

They’re Cayuga crosses and absolutely stunning. The girls will be great egg layers and should begin to lay in the next month or so. We need a quick turnaround on them so will be selling for a reduced cost. They can be sold as a pair and a trio (all hens or drake and hens) instead of the whole 5 at once if you only want a few to start. Send us a message if you would like options.

Please get in contact if you are interested or know of anyone who may be looking for some new pets.

Duck eggs

Our girls are free ranged and eat a natural diet with small amounts of grain as a supplement. This means our yolks are bright orange in colour and we get the maximum amount of eggs per bird per year. We pride ourselves on how happy our girls are and ensure that they don’t want for anything!

If you are interested in pasture and free ranged eggs then please get in touch as our girls are laying us out of house and home at the moment. 1/2 dozen duck eggs are £1.50 with local delivery available from 50p. Please message the page for more information

Long time no see!

Sorry for my lack of posts recently, it has been incredibly busy here at C&W HQ. In the photo is the newest arrival; more black wyandotte bantam chicks, 9 more to be exact.

It has been a mad few weeks with babies. We are currently caring for 3 orphaned chicks alongside our stock. These 3 are too small to be outside with the others so have to live in the brooder for now. I will upload photos in the next few days.

There will be lots of activity on this page again as we get ready for the next round of sales! As ever though, we always have a stock of fresh, free range eggs for sale so please get in touch if you’re interested. 🥚 🐔 🦆

Fabulous information about how to care for your feathered friends during this heat

Fabulous information about how to care for your feathered friends during this heat

☀️ HEAT STRESS ☀️
With the next couple of days forecast to be a scorcher... great for some of us (who enjoy the heat), however, can it be problematic for your lovely backyard hens/cockerels.
If you notice any of the following symptoms in your chicken’s they could be exhibiting signs of dehydration, heat stress or exhaustion:
🔥Laboured breathing and panting
🔥Pale combs/wattles
🔥Lifting wings away from body
🔥Lethargy
🔥Diarrhoea
🔥Seizures/convulsions
Time to act fast....
Here are a few ways to help your lads & lasses during these hotter days:
1.First and foremost, make sure your flock has access to clean, cool water at all times! This is crucial!
2.Supplement lost electrolytes. Like a poultry tonic OR vital Vit’s tonic to put through their water.
3.Provide protection from the sun. Shade, misters, and even wading pools are a welcome relief from the heat.
4.Don't crowd your flock. Your poultry need space to move away from the body heat of other birds.
5.Feed during the cooler times of the day. Digestion generates heat and birds will be less likely to eat during the hotter parts of the day. Obviously, we recommend feeding ad-lib and letting your hens have access to their feed all day… so if you do take feed away normaly try and leave it later than you normally would to try and encourage them to eat.
6.Keep your birds calm. Don't let children, dogs or other pets chase or disturb your flock.
For anymore advice please feel free to get in touch.

Peekaboo!

It is so lovely to have so much new life around at the moment. Bird numbers are steadily increasing with many coming close to selling age. Please contact us if you are interested in purchasing any birds or if you have any breeds in particular that you’re interested in.

In other news; our black bantam hen has laid another clutch and is dutifully sitting on her next lot so watch this space for chick hatch updates in the coming weeks.

•Squishy egg•

One of our young girls is just getting started with her laying career. Yesterday she treated us with this soft shelled egg laid on the grass. It is totally normal for a birds first few eggs to be wacky, either very small or soft shelled or even different colours. This is a good sign though that she is getting ready to start laying those delicious eggs that you are all loving. 🥚

This egg was recycled and fed back to the girls as it wouldn’t have been good for us to eat due to bacteria being able to enter without the shell as a barrier.

Both ducklings and hen are doing amazingly. She is one of the best mums despite the fact that her babies are a bit different than she expected.

Today was a different day. One of our hens got broody 4 weeks ago and lost all of her eggs, so in the end we chose to put some duck eggs under her. Totally didn’t expect anything to happen but figured she would be content with a clutch under her. Then this afternoon, ducklings!!! The wonderful girl has hatched 9 of the cuties!

Welcome to the world little little ones!

These cuties are 7 1/2 weeks old now and will be ready for a new home in 3 more weeks. If you’re interested in these two or any other birds please get in touch via the page or our email [email protected]

You can see the start of the adult feathers coming through now! Their wings are iridescent black like our Cayuga drake who is father to all 5 babies! Only a week or two before we get to see their full colours.

There will be another clutch put in the incubator soon so let me know if you are interested in any ducklings so that you get first dibs on the hatchlings.
