Did you know Veterinary Physiotherapy can be beneficial for cats too? 🐱
Here is 4-month old Rue showing off her skills today! Can you believe this is the first time she's been asked to walk over cavaletti poles?
Rue suffered a tibial malleolar fracture which has been repaired surgically. She is now having regular physiotherapy to aid healing, improve weight bearing/limb use and help her build muscle mass 💪🏼

Veterinary physiotherapy sessions include remedial exercises, these are often also given as 'homework' in between visits. Exercises are individually tailored to each animal in order to target specific aims.
Here you can see Louie completing his cavaletti pole exercise. This exercise can be used to increase limb joint range of motion and proprioception, as well as re-educating gait patterns.
Louie has osteoarthritis, so we use poles to increase and maintain joint range of motion, as well as increasing muscle mass to support his joints 🐶💪🏼

Marbles was so relaxed during his session on Friday that he fell asleep - you can even hear him snoring! 😴

Here is Tetley practising lay down to stand. Through engagement of the core and hindlimb muscles, this exercise leads to muscle strengthening and an increase in core stability. It also improves active range of motion of the hips and stifles, which can all be important pre/post surgery, after injury or for injury prevention.
If you think your dog could benefit from a remedial home exercise plan, please do not hesitate to get in touch for more information 📞📧
Wishing everyone a very Happy Christmas and New Year! 🎅🎄
Thank you for your continued support throughout this last year, especially as it’s been a particularly rubbish one for all of us! It's always a pleasure to treat your dogs and to see the fantastic improvements they are making 🐶
I would also like to say thank you for all the lovely Christmas cards and gifts, it's so very kind of you!🥰
I am looking forward to seeing you all and your dogs again after Christmas! As always I am contactable by phone, email or facebook for any concerns you may have ☺
Best wishes and stay safe! X
Here's Henley showing us how to walk over poles perfectly 🐶🥇
Pole work is a great exercise for increasing weight bearing on all limbs by increasing the stance phase of the stride. It also helps to improve proprioception, active joint range of motion, core stability and muscle mass/strength 💪
