March has arrived!
It’s been a long winter so we have all been counting down to the clocks changing
At least I had my little friends to keep me company during those winter months ❤️

The little goat we didn’t plan
Born 4-12-16
On a cold winter’s night -4
Protected by your mum
& Arnie our grumpy old goat from the fox that had got your scent
From that very moment you became our Star
Our first born on the smallholding
Those first few weeks where scary and you quite poorly
But as the weeks grew into months and the months into years
You became a very big part of our lives
Always first at the gate
First for a stroke or a nibble if I dare to ignore you at my feet
always up for mischief

Early this morning you decided to leave our little bit of land
And so I found you like I did that cold winters morning
So many years ago
Asleep in goats house guarded over by the over goats your mum included
All very still and quite
As you made your final journey to those evergreen pastures
Rest well and shine bright little Star
You will be missed

Even a working dog has time out to play his favourite game

Look what happen New Year’s Day 🤗
Ewe gave birth half way up a hilly field
Due to the weather
Ash & myself manage to get Mum & babies into next field and shelter
Which was a very slow delicate process of picking little ones up walking a few paces then putting them down
While mother nature did her best to blow you into next postcode and soaking you for good measures
You do this as you don’t want Mum to lose scent of her little ones and what with the wind and rain it could so easy happen mum can panic and go totally in wrong direction
This is where Max would normally step in
He would position himself behind mum and push her forwards as we moved he would also know if mum was ready to bolt and be ready to bring her back
But unfortunately he was busy New Year’s Day 😂
So it’s was down to us oldies 👨‍🦳👵to do the deed
Just like the old days before Josh & Max became the main sheep carers

Us old folk still have it 😁
