We’ve had an influx of puppies over the last 3 days, which has taken us upto 10 rescues now, so as you can imagine we’re flying through supplies at lightening speed 🐾

🚨 Newbie A L E R T 🚨

This little lady joined us just 2 weeks ago at 3 weeks old weighing in at a teeny 830g. She joined us due to having a slight cleft lip and not thriving like her litter mates who were 3 times her size… 🐷

Since being here she’s gained just under 2kg 😅 Is eating us out of house and home and quickly becoming a super confident princess 👑

This week we’ve started crate and pad training and honestly for a bulldog she’s smashing it! 🙌🏻

Keep your eyes peeled for updates and a ‘name our newbie’ will be up very soon 💕🐾

🖤 Stitch 🖤

This little bundle of energy joined us just over two weeks ago and honestly it feels like he’s been here forever! Not only is he the most handsome boy I’ve ever laid eyes on but he has the personality to match… 🥹

Stitch is around 1 years old and has a cleft palate & lip. As you can see he’s a nice chunky boy and has coped incredibly well as many do without surgery 💪🏼

Since being with us Stitch has had his first vaccine and microchip, and yesterday he had surgery for his noisy breathing. And thankfully he’s back to his bouncy, crazy self this morning like the little trooper that he is 🐾

Little Poppy the clefty is now looking for her furever home 🏡

Poppy has quite a large cleft palate but eats and drinks completely unaided. The cleft is closing well as she’s growing and she’s had no issues or needed vet visits in relation to her cleft 🙏🏼

Poppy can live with children of any age, female dogs and castrated male dogs. Unfortunately she isn’t cat tested 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦

WHAT A DAY!! 😩

Soooo good news and bad news…

Bad news is little Raven unfortunately wasn’t able to have her surgery today. Our vets called in a specialist especially to do the surgery and once he got her under anesthetic to have a good look he explained there just isn’t enough skin to pull together to close the gap 😩 Although it has closed considerably on its own, it’s still not enough.

Whilst having a look he found a little abscess so Raven has been given some pain meds for this, they think possibly a new tooth has caused the abcess. But we won’t know for sure until the course of meds has finished in 10 days time 🕰️

Good news is, we know she absolutely smashed being under anesthetic. Took it like a boss and was back to her sassy little self the minute she came round 😅

The specialist wants to see her again in a few months time once all her adult teeth are through in hope that there will be a bit more skin to work with, and we can finally go ahead with the cleft surgery that’s so much needed… 🙏🏼

Absolutely gutted as we were looking forward to Raven actually being able to eat unaided… but we’ve done it day in day out for 16 weeks so what’s another few?!

She’s home, recovered and back to being Mrs Mischief with her besties. Thanks again to everyone that donated towards Ravens surgery and care she’s worth every single penny 💕🐾🐻

✨ Happy New Year everyone ✨

I hope everyone had the most amazing Christmas and New Year, I just wanted to say a MASSIVE thank you to everyone that has continued to support us over the past the last 23 months… this month marks 2 whole years of Midlands Cleft Rescue 🥹

Two years of amazing followers, supporters and gaining some incredible life long friends along the way 💖

It’s been tough though, Rescue is never easy I can hand on heart say it’s one of the most challenging things I’ve ever done…. Thankfully though a challenge has never put me off, and let me tell you there’s no better feeling than saving a pup a vet has said should be PTS because they will apparently have no quality of life… 🙏🏼 I know this isn’t the case for all of the babies that come through the doors, but every pup deserves that fighting chance here with us 🐾

As a whole I’ve rescued and rehomed 68 pups in just shy of two years 😳 No idea where the last two years have gone… but just saying that out loud, makes me feel so proud to have achieved what I have! ✨

I’ve not done this alone though, some very special ppl have helped me along the way, firstly I’m grateful every day that my partner works his butt off with the family business so that I can give the rescue 💯. Grateful to and who are always on hand to help when I’m in need of a break 😴… Sam Lanes our amazing transport, for being so helpful and generous with fundraisers and always at the end of the phone when I need a rant or a cry and lastly our amazing foster and her mum 🧡

But most of all I’m grateful for every single one of my followers and supporters… without you guys and your continued donations of supplies and recent donations towards Skips leg surgery and Raven’s pending surgery I just wouldn’t be able to carry on caring for these special babies. I appreciate you all so so much 🙏🏼

I’m having a few weeks off now as Raven has her last check up on the 9th then we’re hoping and praying we can finally get the surgery booked soon after 🙏🏼

The down side to cleft rescue… you think they look strong on the outside but unfortunately when a pup has a cleft it increases the risk of other midline defects. He’s currently nice and warm in the incubator, and I’m just praying with everything I have that he pulls through 🙏🏼

Cleft rescue at times is tough, no matter how much equipment you have, no matter how much experience and knowledge you have… sometimes it’s just not enough!! 😔

🐾❤️ RAVEN UPDATE ❤️🐾

Absolutely blown away with how kind and generous ppl have been donating towards Raven’s surgery fund… a whopping £3945 (£700 being a cash donation) 🙏🏼

With Raven being so young and still having so much growing to do she will more than likely need more than the one operation. And because of you lovely lot we have roughly enough for not one but TWO lots of surgery! 🥹🥹🥹

Raven had a check up on Monday, the infection has now gone. But currently there isn’t enough flesh to pull together to close the cleft. Thankfully though new fresh skin has started to grow back where the infection has cleared. We will be back in a few weeks time for another check up then hopefully get her surgery booked in 🙏🏼

There is still a risk of Raven getting another infection in the mean time so we’re being super careful, but she’s bright, playful and eating and drinking well. I’ve never known a puppy so determined to live as this little lady ✨

A kind lady that came to meet one of our puppers the other night donated a whopping £700 towards Raven’s surgery. .carbs and her wonderful friend had a charity day at their tattoo studio to raise to funds for and another amazing charity very close to their hearts 💕

Absolutely blown away by your generosity ladies. You really are one in a million. Without your donation and the others we’ve received so far little Raven just wouldn’t have then chance she so much deserves.
