Wow, when I started this page and venture I never thought I would get over 500 let alone 1,400 followers!

Today's FAQ is one of the most asked question I get.
How secure is the field?
Well, everything that has been in the field has stayed in the field. Unfortunately, the same can't be said for tennis balls as I find them in my garden! We've had everything from a Chihuahua puppy to a Great Dane and everything in between.
You see, the field and the car park are fully enclosed with 6ft high fencing with the netting also underground, so those dogs that like to dig, can't get out.
The car park can be secured before you dog(s) has exited the vehicle as there are two gates.
When starting out with this project our aim was to do it right once because the whole point of it is to be secure, which I think we have achieved.

Today's customer review is from the lovely Graham who has used the field from it's very early days. Him and his wife use the field to exercise their dog who is not good off the lead.
They have used it over Bonfire night weekend because their dog, like many others, doesn't like fireworks. So as a change from going for a late night walk in the countryside they used the field.
The field is used for many reasons; removing their dog from a reactive situation is one of them.

While we celebrate our pooches every day, International Dog Day takes place on 26th August.
Founded in 2004 by animal welfare activist Colleen Paige, International Dog Day was put in place to celebrate all the dogs around the world. But its aim is also to raise awareness of the number of dogs that need to be rescued each day.

With the Steam Rally taking place on Sunday 25th August and Monday 26th August, coupled with the coast/bank holiday traffic it would be highly advisable to seek an alternative route to the field.
Here are some suggestions for those coming from the A5 direction.
Take the B4386 (known as the Westbury-Montgomery Road). This can be accessed from the hospital/Copthorne roundabout off the Shrewsbury bypass.
Along this road there are a few opportunities you can turn right which will then bring you onto the A458.
The first turn is in Nox on the corner. This route can be narrow in places. Go up the bank and turn left for Cardeston. This will then bring you onto the A458. Turn left and continue to the field as usual. It’s about 2 miles to our turn from here.
The second turn is at a crossroads where you turn right for Stretton Heath. Again, this road can be narrow in places. You will go over a level crossing. Once again, this route will bring you to the A458. Turn right and go past the Windmill Pub, our turning will be on the RIGHT-hand side opposite the hotel complex itself. There are two large industrial wheelie bins at the end of our lane.
The third turn is in Westbury and turn right at the crossroads by the pub, signposted for Halfway House. This road is a wider road than the other two routes. Once at the crossroads in Halfway House you will need to turn right. You will be about 2-3 miles away from our turning.
Please allow extra time for travelling to the field. If you do happen to arrive early for your session and the field is still occupied, then please wait patiently outside the car park for the field to be vacated. It would be advisable to wait down on the yard so that neither your dog(s) or the dog(s) in the field react and cause problems for either party.
For going home, it would be best to retrace your steps if you have taken any of the above routes as Ford and the Churncote island will be heavily congested on these days, even more so if the weather is going to be good.

This coming weekend is a bank holiday and the field will be open as usual, daily from 6am through to 9pm.
On Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th August the 60 minute sessions will be available as usual.
On Monday 26th August all 3 lengths of sessions will be available (60, 45 and 30 minutes).

The beauty of the field is that its open to any dog group or individual.
We have had a litter party where the bookee had the mum and invited all of her puppies for their 1st birthday. Some of them came as far as Scotland for this reunion.
We have many dog birthday parties here as well, where the pawrents invited their dog's friends for a good zoomie session. They even gave out gift bags afterwards!
Then there are the dog trainers, who use the field to conduct 1-2-1 sessions or even a group which ran for a few weeks. They had a little graduation ceremony and pictures on the platform.
Dog walkers use the field as it's the perfect environment to bring a group of dogs who can get used to one another and travel together. Or if one of their charges is reactive but needs more than a lead walk, the field allows them the opportunity to have a lead free exercise session.
Then there are the groups of friends that use the field as a meeting place, have a chat and a cuppa whilst their dog(s) play, sniff around the field and enjoy the fresh air with their mates.
There are the dog owners who have confessed to me that they need the field almost as much as their dog. Helping with both their mental health and their dog's.
Whatever the reason, Rowton Grange Secure Dog Field offers a safe environment for groups, dog professionals or individuals.

I'm disappointed, no I'm annoyed that I've received a message from a customer who has just entered the field saying there are two large sloppy deposits by the picnic bench. They don't know how they've been missed tbh.

The fence is 1.8 metres all the way around, and is dug into the ground.
There is hard standing in the car park, which is also fenced in the same style as the field and can be secured before your dog(s) have even set foot out of your vehicle.
We can accommodate up to 10 dogs.

⭐FIELD UPDATE ⭐ It's dry! Not everywhere yet but it's getting there. I've mowed around the perimeter as it was getting long and under or around the equipment. There isn't quite enough grass to mow the whole paddock but I've spruced up the field ready for the weekend. There is some availability for both tomorrow and Sunday. Monday there is plenty of availability. All 3 lengths of sessions are available on Monday (1hr, 45 and 30 minutes) and just the 1hr sessions available on Saturday and Sunday. We can cater up to 10 dogs and are XL bully friendly.
⭐ FIELD UPDATE ⭐ Quick video showing the current condition of the field. It's wet and muddy by the gate, but once you get past that and head towards the far side of the field it does get drier. We haven't had any rain overnight which is good and the wind is definitely helping to dry things out, slowly but surely. Wellies are still very much needed and the means to deal with wet but happy dogs is recommended. Thank you once again for your continued support 👍

A quick update about the field. SPOLIER ALERT! It's still muddy and wet thanks to this week's rainfall. Hopefully these next few days will help to dry it out. I will be opening the field on Friday 1st March, the calendar is open. Thank you for your continued support 👍

I've had the website updated so that customers with XL bullys can upload their documents prior to booking rather than emailing them. I've done a quick video showing you where this is on the website. A quick update on the condition of the field. With the dry and windy weather we've had it's gone quite sticky/tacky with just a little bit of wet mud down by the lorry box fence line. This dry spell should put the field in a good position ready for the depths of winter 🤞 Many thanks for your continued support, much appreciated 👍
A quick pitch inspection before the school run. Here's a summary ✅ field open tomorrow ✅ Water around the picnic bench and wicket has receded ✅ along the back fence is considerably drier than the rest of the field. ❌ still wet/muddy but definitely not any worse than last week despite the rain last night. If you are planning on visiting the field then please be prepared for wet, muddy but happy dogs for the foreseeable. Wellies or waterproof footwear is recommended. Thank you all for your understanding whilst the field has been closed, 🤞 it doesn't happen too often this winter.

And the annoying thing is I found one in the car park after I finished this video.
