So sorry to anyone who turned up for the walk today but I ended up breaking down on the A40 around 12.30pm on my way home and ended up with the police towing my car away as it was completely seized and undrivable. Basically the wheel nuts failed and sheared so wheel and brakes seized and I wasn't going anywhere and I was blocking the A40 which is never good on a sunny Saturday!! It may be time to upgrade my 12 year old car 🙈

I tried to contact everyone I knew was coming but huge apologies to anyone I missed. HUGE thank you to Caroline and Gareth who rescued Gemma from the boot and took her home to cool off.

I am now off to have some alcoholic refreshments as I hear they are good for stress and shock! Hope the next walk is less eventful........and it actually happens.

Don't forget the next OFF lead group dog walk is this Saturday 31st August at 2pm starting at Towns Moor car park in Narberth: https://www.pembrokeshire.gov.uk/narberth-car-parks.
Parking charges do apply.

The walk is about 5.5 miles (attached) and will last around 2.5 hours. If it is really warm or you want to do a shorter walk we have options to cut it shorter and with the weather we have been having I want to plan for all eventualities!

If you can make it let me know and we will wait for you in the car park. Hope to see you there 🙂

Only 2 places left on the Puppy classes running from Monday 2nd September from 1.30-2.30 at Camrose Community Centre

They classes run for 4 weeks and will cover recall training, how to get your puppy to walk nicely on lead, social skills with people and other dogs as well as basic puppy training around things such as biting and jumping up!

The cost is £60 for the 4 week class with goody bags and handouts to take with you. Let me know if you are interested and I can send you a booking form and payment details.

We finished the second of the Improver classes this afternoon and unfortunately two dogs couldn't make it but at least we ended with sunshine!

Has anyone got any spare dried dog food for GRW's Pet Food Bank and I can take it up to them on the 1st September?

**APPEAL FOR HELP**

Our Pet Food bank is in desperate need of more dried food.

We run our own Pet Food bank onsite at our Hillcrest centre to help keep much-loved pets in homes when their owners are struggling in our community.

Our Pet Food Bank is receiving requests for help all the time, but we're now really short on dried food.

We can accept donations to our food bank at our Hillcrest site between 10am and 4pm, and any of our charity shops during open hours.

ps. Whatever the greyhound says, don't let them convince you. We don't need tea cakes.

There were only a couple of puppies on the walk yesterday but they had a lovely time exploring Withybush Woods. We had two beautiful boys - both called Ralph!

The next walk will be on Saturday 7th September at 12.30pm and we will be back at Scolton Manor. Hope to see you there :-)

Does anyone know of any indoor venues I can hire for dog training classes around Haverfordwest/north Pembs? I need a large indoor space (preferably not carpeted!) with outdoor space if possible and parking, that has space to run a class on a Saturday, and most importantly of all.......allows dogs in the building for training classes. Reasonably priced would be good too! I am ok in the summer but in the winter I need shelter! 🙂

******Launching my brand new dog training course*******
"Pet Dog Gundog - Mission Control!"

The course uses the techniques used to train gundogs without actually working your dog in the field, and is useful for any breed of dog as the skills are useful to everyone.

This first course will cover the foundations of gundog training such as using a station, sending your dog around an object, chin target and focus. Then we will work on distance control and changing direction to a whistle. I will be running other 2 week courses on teaching retrieve "Go Getters" and search "Happy Seekers" later in the year.

The course will run for 4 weeks from Saturday 31st August until Saturday 21st September from 9-10am at the Burns Field on Withybush Ind Estate in Haverfordwest and costs £60 per dog for the whole course.

There were only a few of us on the walk yesterday but we did see 4 seasons in one day. We started in drizzle and waterproofs and ended in t-shirts and the odd patch of sun coming through the mist - not great for those amazing coastal vistas! Here are some photos of the group with all the dogs getting on really well 💕🐾

Please note that next Saturday 17th August we we will be meeting at Withybush Woods in Haverfordwest at 10.30am for our monthly group puppy walk. We were meant to be meeting at Scolton Manor - but it is the date of Scolton's Big Weekend and it will be packed by 10.30am!

It will be a chance for your puppies to socialise with others and you can ask me any questions on the way around. The cost is £3 per puppy.

We will take a walk through the woods on a circular route. Any dog up to 1 year old is welcome and if you have another calm dog in your house then you are welcome to bring them along too!

We will start at the car park at the end of Withybush Road and parking is free!

Poppy is hoping to see you there and she's getting her sleep in ready for lots of playing - and to cope with the car journey 🙂

The next ON lead group dog walk is this coming Saturday 10th August at 10.30am starting at the main car park off the B4341(Millmoor way) in Broad Haven. It's the first car park on your left as you come down the hill from Haverfordwest direction.

Pembrokeshire Park Car Parking charges apply:
Up to 30 minutes: £0 (no return within 4 hours)
Up to one hour: £1.50
Up to two hours: £3
Up to four hours: £4.50

The walk will take around 1 hour 40 minutes and is around 3.8 miles (6.2km) in length. We will walk through fields. woodland, a short stretch along quiet roads and back along the coast path. All dogs are to be on lead and the walk costs £3 per dog.

Thanks to everyone who turned up to the Sighthound Walk today at Llys y Fran. We had gorgeous weather and some new faces joined us as well. There were 18 humans and 16 dogs in total and we had time for coffee and cake afterwards 🙂

Thanks to the money donated this walk and the last one you have raised £45 for Greyhound Rescue Wales which will help the hounds at Hillcrest.

The next walk will be back at Pantmaenog on Sunday 8th September at the normal time of 11am.

Don't forget the next SIGHTHOUND walk is tomorrow SUNDAY 28th JULY at the earlier time of 10AM and this time we are meeting at LLlys-y-frân Lake. There is no charge for the walk but any donations to Greyhound Rescue Wales are always welcome!

The second set of classes will be running from Monday 2nd September from 1.30-2.30 at Camrose Community Centre.
